Well, I had Jon "Lebowski" over at our place for the day today. Ostensibly to help me move and switch two cars in the garage , reassemble the BSA Bantam, and supervise the service on my Scorpa. Scorpa got new brake pads, chain removed, washed oiled, airfilter washed, oiled and engine oil drained and refilled. Chain tensioned up. I also got Tom's new gloves I ordered off Ebay yesterday, and a Nau helmet and some boots off Pete for him. Hopefully tomorrow we will fetch Jon's Blackbird and his spare Beta which Tom will be riding. Both bikes to live in my garage till he has his new garage secured etc. Nice and bright helmet so that we can find Tom in the woods. He asked for Red gloves, so will be looking like a Christmas tree. Nicola's 1956 Ford Anglia which has been stored the last 18 months, was in the rear of the garage, due for ressurection next week with new brake and clutch master cylinders and brake rebuild. Hopefully a new MOT and back in use soon. Places were swopped with the 1963 Ford Transit van, also parked up since we moved here a year ago. This has made more space for the bikes and for Jon's bikes. The bus started after a few attempts as it has not moved the last year since moving to the new house. Happy to report that everything worked as it should. Scorpa being seen to, calipers were very dirty and brakes have tended to bind when worked hard recently, so I tried to clean the callipers out as well as I could. Nicola made us tea through the afternoon while it rained outside. The time is drawing near for me to sort out the garage into a more workable shape. Soon I tell thee, soon !!

Not such a great weekend for mine - I only managed 120KM in it as a proper check-run and it decided to drop the prop-shaft on the A56 between Euskirchen and Duren.... A lot of recovery fees later it's back at GF's parents and waiting to be picked up on a weekend in the very near future. From the horrendous noises it made as it threw it's toys out of the pram the autobox lunched top gear, dropped to 3rd and this managed to help shear the prop bolts - dropped it and snapped the yoke onto the rear axle Thoughts turn to the tuned C250TD I have sitting waiting in the wings as donor - but calls to Dave reveals a 300TD with box sitting for free waiting a home - so plans are in motion. Wish it was better news - but I'll get there in the end John

As some of you have figured out, or know..... I am in the process of selling both the Grizz-Mobile and Myrtle, Nicola's Anglia 100E in order to make space and finance a single car that we can tow the GrizzPod Teardrop trailer with. Said car should be Pickup flavored and around 50 years old..... Think early 60's Chevy C10 Fleetside. retrorides.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=FSW&action=display&thread=145782In preparation for selling the bus, I have photographed all the spares it comes with, quite a lot, and packed them all into the bus. It has been SORN'd for some time and always lived indoors. So here goes..... just a load of photos taken in the garage before packing them into the bus. Front axle and hubs. Rear axle and hubs, one angle. Different angle. Gearbox, one angle. Different angle Last angle Hubs, just to show what you are working with. Spare Dash, under dash shelf, engine cowl and fuel line. Chrome front and rear bumpers, headlight bezels, spare painted grille, some body panels I wanted to use when converting to camper with kitchen, a spare, dented oil sump, and other bits. Box of allsorts..... Various spares, some unobtainable, includes a load of good door handles, headlights and bowls, electrics, fuse box and other assorted bits. All boxed, packed in the back and immobilized. There you go.

Well, it has been a while in developing and some of you were getting as irritated as I was getting EXCITED !!! Some months ago, Dave, "OLDBUS" sent me a PM to ask if I was still interested in a FORD TAUNUS TRANSIT FK1250, as he had possibly located one or two for sale from a collection. Is the Pope Catholic was my first thought?? Dave asked if I wanted him to pop down and take a look and I said, yes please if it is not too much hassle. Not realising that "POP DOWN" in Oldbus speak was more than 430km one way. Dave went quiet and underground, and on the Sunday evening there was a PM, he had gone to see the FK1250 and when he got there, there were three available for sale. HE HAD BOUGHT ALL 3 and brought 2 home already !! So I had a van. I will do a full readers ride report with the rest of the story when I settle down again. Dave has just arrived at me door. I guess we have come full circle.

Took the Transit up to the farm today and had Jon record a few clips so that I can add them to the For Sale thread.
Had some good laughs.
This is my favourite clip I suspect.
Another clip, just in the cab on the way home.
This thing is happy to run at 20mph in third and then just goes if you accelerate.
Then another couple of passes on the farm.
Last one..... Happy finish.

Well, it has started. Yesterday, Myrtle the 1956 Ford Anglia 100E sold to a young petrol head named Dan. It left me with an emotional wife and feeling like I shot Bambi. Next up is getting the Transit ready for selling too. With one car out the garage, it meant that I could empty, then rearrange the contents of the garage, which I did today. This was the final swansong for the Anglia, hopefully the Transit will follow soon and then set us up to find a Chevy pickup truck. A very happy family. It is great to have a 13 year old petrol head buy the car as it gives me hope for the future of our hobby. DAN THE MAN...... He wanted to ride home in the Anglia on the back of the trailer. I suspect he would have loved to have taken a sleeping bag into the garage and slept n her last night. Following the SVT Lightening to her new home where she will be sharing the garage with a Model T Roadster and a white Plymouth Roadrunner Once I reversed the bus out the garage it was much easier to rearrange everything. Now just need to sell and then start all over again, looking for a Chevy Pickup truck.

I seem to have lost my MOJO the last few years, but it seems to be creeping back. Yesterday, for the first time since August 2010, the Grizz-Pod came out of the garage. After selling the Anglia to Young Dan Young over the weekend, there suddenly was more space in the garage to move stuff about, first was the Transit, which is also up for sale, and I will be writing up a full for sale ad for it as soon as the time is right, unless someone comes in by PM and comes to take a look and decides to buy what is a pretty unique van/car. Yesterday I decided to turn the Transit around in the garage so that it faces outward, and as is usually the case, a whole lot of other stuff started happening...... I decided a wash and some T-Cut is in order. Once the bus was turned about, I started moving stuff about again, and then pulled the Grizz-Pod out and decided it needed a wash as well, as it never got washed after we came back from honeymoon in August 2010 So I will now just photos dump, as the bus and trailer does look different from different angles, and interestingly, if you look at some pics they look bigger than in others. Sunlight....... HOVER BUS Washed and sparkly Washed as well, Much better, drying next. Just how low can you go ? Says it all. So next up is to sell the transit, and then get a Chevy pickup truck for the teardrop trailer. Now to go start the T-Cut on the bus.

August 2010? Can't be! Feel like yesterday! I have always admired your energy and enthusiasm whether to do with your numerous hobbies and (sometimes swiftly acquired) skills or life's little and sometimes major hick ups. What engine is your preference in the Chev? And why Chev? Is petrol comparably as expensive as on our side? What distances will you cover and how often? All the best with you and Nicola's new venture of exchanging the two vehicles for the bakkie (pickup)!

NO MORE GRIZZ MOBILE......After getting some advice on removing the Graffitti which this bus was known by, as it may put some buyers off, I have used some thinners, a couple of rags and done 4 passes on it all, soak, scrub, scrub, wash and then wiped again with a good old T-shirt. GOING....... GOING....... GONE !!!! Next up some polish and a bit of rubbing should see it almost disappear.

Next up I spent over 5 hours with T-Cut polishing and hand buffing the whole van, even the roof, which is a PITA. I must say, it has come up pretty decently, so I hope it helps when it comes to selling. GRIZZ-MOBILE graffitti side polished out well. Other side done as well. By this time I had to push the van inside again, as evening condensation was coming down.

Well, last night after Wheels day out in Surrey, which was one of the best days out, I went down to the garage to sort out some stuff. I also remembered that I had some VW 5 x 205 wheels stashed away for the bus when it gets painted to wheel it about on. I had bought, bartered and traded for these a long time ago as part of the greater plan to get the bus painted as I had planned. These are now stashed in the back, along with all the other spares for the bus' next owner. It will be interesting to see what the next phase looks like. This is such a nice van, and I realize it every time I drive it or move it about.
