I'm liking the new rover. Doesn't look too bad considering where its come from. Love those seats too. sort of remind me of capri ghia seats I have to confess Ive got a bit of a thing for a nice k-series too. have just spent a day changing the clutch on the 1.4 in my ZR. Any info from the previous owners regarding the starting issue?

Nah, he reckoned it started and ran fine. He told me it had been sat for a year but his daughter piped up 'You mean 4 years dad!!! LOLOLOL' so its possible the key fob has gone flat in that time.

Fugging Nora, you need to get some serious mental health counselling man! What's the chances of the latest one being a 'brochure car' or sommert, what with the SOA registration...? (All the 'factory' cars were xOA, weren't they??)

Thank you Mr Xbolx for providing great entertainment and more importantly, saving so many Rovers. I have been inspired to not scrap my 800.

I love this thread. Special place in my heart for this shape Rover 200 and 400 as my Grandad always had them through his business until he retired and upgraded to a Saab 9000.

WOWZERS...!!!
Another cracking update there sir, absolutely superb!
This latest Raver looks like a good 'un and I'm sure it'll be a right old piece once its been cleaned up and set on the straight and narrow as it were...
Lovely stuff...

Looks like a tidy buy. Also, the area you got it from looks and sounds like a Lancashire version of where I grew up in Leeds!

Man, your love of Rovers takes you to some interesting corners ( is that a sign to change brands? What's the car equivalent of methadone?) And your eye/ear for the local colour makes me laugh but also shudder, coming from a similar 'salt of the earth' corner. That last Rover you scored is an 'I'. I recall seeing a documentary about sales reps back in the early 90s. One of the reps went round the back of his car and pointing at the 1.6i badge said : See that? You know what that 'i' stands for? It means : 'I' am important.

Omg Mr xbollx was just around the corner from my place and dragged away a car just like one I used to own, same colour same reg. The interior shots bring back the memories. Great work.

I measured it and sadly it doesnt quite meet the requirement of 1.6mm depth over the central 3/4 of the tread so this tyre will probably have to be replaced. xbo11ox... master of understatement

Owners handbook tell you how to reprogram the fob ...

I think it tells you how to change the battery in the fob, don't know about reprogramming it! Anyway I chucked a new battery in and still the immobiliser seems to be stuck on, so I am going to have to get the fob and 5AS box seen to be someone who knows what they are doing.

take the battery back out. Press and hold each button for 5secs to discharge. Re-fit new battery, unlock the car with the key in the door lock then press the lock button on the fob 5 times. The car should now lock and the fob re-synced.

i would love to fit a 135 1.8 K-series into one I've had that train of thought too; even better if you can get a Lotus VHPD lump. 192bhp nasp from a 1.8? That would give the Derby & Joan set a rise in their elasticated Levis. Fugging Nora, you need to get some serious mental health counselling man! : I'm in the queue behind him, muttering part codes for door clips....
