The sunny is no longer of inetrest to me as I bought something way cooler and faster so you can buy it HERE On to the new car then, I got the first chance to have a look round and clean it today so I took the chance to take some pics etc. List of mods that I can tell so far are: ST185 turbo 3" turbo back stainless exhaust including down pipe Dump valve of unknown make (my hks one will be going on though) K&N panel filter Bleed valve FCD Aux Boost gauge. More about the car then. It's a bit tatty but on inspection looks solid, just a bit neglected. It's been resprayed at some point in its life and not very well but seeing as there is a few (at the moment) cosmetic rust issues to sort out I'm not bothered. Rear diff mount needs changing for sure, I'm thinking it's going to be easier to get a replacement sunroof to, or maybe a CF one..... Mechanically the car will stay is for now, a full service before it returns to the road along with the brakes checked and funds allowing maybe renewed just for safety's sake. 4 new tires wouldn't hurt but I may change the wheels so I'll see where that one goes. The engine starts and runs fine, no knocks groans or anything so thats good, the oil is dirty clean, ie not new, and no mayo so thats a relief as there a bit prone to head gasket failure if abused.. I got a load of receipts with it, at some point some one has spent a fair old wack on it. There loss my gain. Not the best time of year for doing cars outside but what the hell I've always wanted one so once I'm happy with how it drives I'll be saving up for it to have a trip to the body shop for some TLC. I suppose you want the pics? there's a video of it to at the end as a crimbo bonus ;D Oh yeah, it needs a hoover to

Thanks mark, found that website yesterday whilst looking for info, it's amazing and looks to be really helpful. that front bit has got a bit of rust so I'll make that the first job. ;D The whole underside is covered in "surface rust" so I'll probably scrub and protect whats good and repair whats not.
The underside looks ok, I'm expecting there to be rust under there though so i may take it to my mates garage for an "MOT" to get it on the ramps. I'll do the engine service and check the breaks first though.
I used to have another GT4, 1990 ST185 though, i always regretted selling it and am chuffed to bits now i got another GT4, just a better shape though ;D

Whats she like? I really want one, but are so hard to find! She's going to need some body work and some general things fixed and found but on my first close inspection she seems solid enough. Body kit off will tell the truth though....... Mechanically shes great, everything there seems to work as it should and she feels like she pulls well. very nice mate, back into the turbo world again then ;D I will come down one sat in the new year and you can show me around it properly. Dave. happy new year mate I can't live without the kick, i am a boost junkie!! at least i stand a chance of keeping up with you lot now i'll just wait for the rain and a bend and i'll see you after you've pulled your self out the ditch..... She's not ready for the road yet, but you're welcome down anytime mate, i should have my weekends free next year as i'll be training for my new job. Happy new year buddy!!

Dropped the old girl off for an MOT last night, wasn't expecting a pass, more of a "list to work to" so i could see where i needed to spend money rather than where i wanted to. Well the Mr MOT man had "that" look when i went to pick her up and i now have 2 sheets of it's failures. I'll break them down as follows: "GOOD" FAILS Front brake pipes, corroded, perished or not attached properly. Rear disc worn Rear brake caliper seized Brakes not working adequately Hand brake not working properly The reason i call these "good" fails is because i was going to renew and uprate the whole brake system anyway so not bothered by these. "BAD FAILS" Its rotten. Basically the sills are non existent and crumbly at best, the floor from the sills to the outer seat rail are badly corroded and the front of the floor where the anti roll bar mounts is rotten. Well after a little cry inside i decide that the ST165 is getting too rare to not try and save it so i have arranged for it to be looked at by an old friend who mostly works on aircooled VW's and he's happy to do the work. I spoke to Stu who I've already had some bits off a celica he's scraping to see if i can have the sills and floors from his as they are made of metal and not iron oxcide............ It's gonna take a while but she'll be back on the road in a few months hopefully, she's so quick to drive and with next to no turbo lag i love her already. I get the feeling this could be a long love affair..................................................... (although i did get ideas of putting the engine and possibly running gear into something else like a mk1 MR2, VW scriocco etc)
