No matt black !!! Is thats the original VW paint, you'll be SO surprised how well that'll buff up !!  G60 steelies, 60mm lowering kit, polish, job done. |

Yeah, never underestimate the power of a good polish, even a hand one! The Galant/Charmant paint was very flat on purchase, some hours later and they're gleaming.
Black up the greying plastic too, will make a huge difference.

Polish it, and make it look like something someone else can buy, not like the end of the road, which matt black spells for many "moderns"

New front bumper (yours looks a bit battered), a good slam (80mm+ or coilovers) and some choice wheels (TH-lines, BBS RS\RM, P-slot, widened steels, ATS Classics, ATS Cups, japanese 4x100 wheels of pretty much any kind, and so on  ) Job done. Matt black... Eugh...  |

When trying to emmulate this look, a lot more than a rattle can of matt black is needed. Getting it right is a bit of an art.   Or maybe you could go for this....   I would say, collect tons of immages, ideas etc, and then execute on your car. In the mean time just drive and enjoy it. You may even find a combination of styles works for you, and then get to create a new look. |

Thanks guys, I think the previous owners wanted the rat look as it looks as though it has never been washed, moss in the gaps and it has at least one dent in every panel!! Still, only 2 previous owners, both women!

DEFO NOT a rattle can attack as that will make it look rubbish, and make you look like a tw@t. I would suggest giving it a jolly good clean up, I bet you will be amazed how it polishes up.

I enjoy a bit of rat look as much as the next man but out of the 2 picture above I know which i prefer but look at them yourself... see which you prefer... at the end of the day its your car (make it shiny;)

I take the engine out to do it, mainly because I've yet to own a VW that retains engines for more than a year at a time  . |
