Lets clear up car terms: "Understeer" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car. "Oversteer" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car. "Horsepower" is how fast you hit the fence. "Torque" is how far you take the fence with you.

I remember reading about some bloke from macclesfield who died after eating a backbox so it can happen.
Don't put a roofrack on it! They are curse word.

First of all you lower the tone of the nieghbourhood by moving in round the corner and now you're on here!!! lol Welcome to the forum. The Rocco is seriously low, but very cool in a retro kind of way. But doesn't turn as many heads as your mini when we're on the school run (or should that be walk)

Nice looking car. I had an early one of these ('83 Y reg GL) about 10 years ago and it was fun to drive. 1.8 carb flavour, which I suspect yours is with the lack of "I" after your GT? The only bad things about it were that the Pierburg carb was knackered. If you've got one of them I suggest you bin it and get a Weber replacement unless someone's already done it. It also had a rusty fuel filler pipe that had let a load of crud into the petrol tank. A stainless one of them would be a good mod as it will rust!
Other than that, enjoy it! It's a VW so will be fairly bullet proof if looked after, although even abused ones seem to survive quite well!

it does 90 miles a day commute to norwich from ipswich, since this time last year 1 year to the day tomorrow. (about 30,000 taking in my miles in the day too) and so far apart from the mods it's needed a service and a cap and leads and has NEVER broke down (touch wood) not bad...
