Looks ok at the back but sadly I must concur with the majority in thinking the front end looks a little naked. Clears look ace though!
Had one of these myself but it was rubbish. My fault for consistently buying cack! Lovely when it worked. Which wasn't very often. I do have a hankering for another but could I actually manage to buy a good'un this time?

I tend to agree, the bumpers should be on, unless you are trying to save weight. I'm contemplating selling my soul to get one of these cars. Or maybe just my Lada. pmsl. <daydream> Hmmm, slammed Lada wagon... Soviet-era cool... </daydream>

dolly - this one was cheep, and is good, so i am sure there are still bargins to be had! i think i did well on this, but it's not without its problems... at the moment its got no MOT or tax so that instantly makes it cheeper, but i know its a gem underneeth! just needs a little 'polishing'

When I eventually get one of my Estelles restored buy one from me!

Hello chap.
TBH I like it bumperless too, gotta remove the bumper hangers at the front if you're keeping it that way though!

Alrite mate! Yeah tbh the bumpers are staying off the next job is remove the hangers and cut some small bit of plate to smooth off all the wholes. previously there were bumper hung fogs at the back which have obsiously gone. Can i just stick a high power tinted fog bulb in one of the reverse lights and rewire? where should the number plate go, smack bang in the middle, or offset to one side?

well, i managed to get a little work done today, not a lot but a bit! I have a spare engine from an 92 skoda favorit (FWD) so, i have decided to try and turbo this spare motor for the estelle! The engine was sat on the floor of my shed and had lost all its oil on the shed floor. so i decided it was time to get the engine on the stand! I love this engine, without the head, but will all anciliarys attached i managed to lift the engine into place myself.. its a light engine! the bores are not too bad and will just get a hone along with new piston rings. ports are not too bad, bit will be opened out and cleaned up crusty head! manifold is prime to have a turbo bolted onto the flange with a little adaptor section in place intake is going to go, and be replaced with a multipoint manifold off a much later varient of this engine next on the list of things to do is tidy up!

lol re the strongbow... my neighbour had a rather dull orange 120L years ago, I always thought it had potential for 'improvements'
btw i agree the front bumpers need to go back on, otherwise crack on! keep up the good work

Leave the bumpers off, maybe stick some lamps on the hangers so you don't have to cut them off if you change your mind?

i have removed the hangers already (two bolts)
I am glad there is some support for te bumperless option!
I am in a bit of a quandery atm!
I could purchase an AUDI 80 and use the transaxle and stuff so i can bolt on some cool and powerful engines, but then she is getting a big fat bum! which may upset the handling.
or i could tune this engine, but only ever get abou 150 bhp max out of her!
choices choices..
i think she is a little too nice to chop up and fit the audi stuff too, so i am still tempted to tune this lump!

I could tune this engine, but only ever get about 150 bhp max out of her! And that's a problem?! I'd kill for 150bhp in the Singer! ;D

hehe yeah 150bhp is not bad, but the engine is going to be running at max (and i have a heavy right foot!) so i am a little worried about the lifespan of the engine and box!
apprently any more than 100flbs of tourque and the diff CROWN gear is toast!

The engine in my 120L came out of a rally car, i'm not sure of the spec, i know it's lightened/balanced and has a different cam, it is very quick as well, but has a top speed of around 110mph (private test track). Acceleration wise it feels as quick as my 2.0 VW Vento, and is also very reliable, the only downside is fuel consumption, around 18-20mpg with a heavy foot, around 25mpg driven normally.

Hello all, been a while (well a month). I have not sat totally idol these last few weeks, I have been fiddling about with the wiring. I have been having issues with the full beam, horn, and the head rear window. The issues with the full beam and horn are both related to the indicator/full beam/horn stalk. The previous owner had removed the fuses for the full beam because if you indicated or touched the stick it would cause the full beam to flash. So i put the fuses back in and have fiddled about the wiring and connectors. I now have a controlable full beam and the horn works as well! The heated rear window also was not working. I checked the element in the window and found that that worked fine. I checked the switch, and that works as well. I then checked the relay in the boot and found that that also worked, but noticed that the 'arm' was not being fully closed by the coil, so a quick bend in the arm and that problem is now fixed. I also installed a red bulb into one of the reverse lights and re-wired it, however the red is alittle more 'orange' so i will either need a MORE red bulb, or spray the inside of the lense red (bulb option is prefered for obvious resons!)
