Hi guys, thought I'd put my beamer on here.
Back in 2001 a mate of mine worked in Germany I had mentioned to him that I wanted a BLACK rear wheel drive car if he new of anything. He called me explaining that he had just taking in a BLACK car that was in really good condition. I asked what it was, he wouldn't tell me. He was just saying how quick it was for an old car & how tidy. Then he told me it was a BMW at first I wasn't really into the idea. He emailed me some pics. As soon as I saw the pics I had to have it.
He drove it over & sorted all the paperwork out & mot'd it for me.
I soon bought a set of rims for it & lowered it 60mm.
This is what it looked like back then in 2001.

I drove it for about a year then I was back working in Europe alot so put the car into storage untill 2005. I got the car out of storage & advertised it for sale. I had loads of phone calls about the car & even though I advertised it as a German import LHD people said "o it's left hand drive, no thanks" Some came & looked at it & said "how do you drive it with the stearing wheel over here?"
I couldn't beleive the amount of people that thought this was a problem. Maybe it's because I have driven LHD for years as I worked as a continental truck driver, or maybe some people just don't like change.
Anyway I had to make a descision. Sell it for peanuts or keep it & revamp it.
I decided to strip it & revamp it & then export it to my place in France.
Rear arches were really starting to bubble so out they came.
New inner & outer both sides.
Found a hole.
I decided the standard BMW Black was not really black it was more of a very dark grey. So I went for a Mercedes Black with a twist. I can't remember the code now but it sounded a bit ponsy at first. It's got lots of flecks of violet, blue, green it looks really cool in the sun, but it's still jet BLACK. You might of noticed I only do Black. Apart from my Pajero which I was going to paint but the wife says it's to big & now wants a PT Cruiser.
Fitted new brakes all round & electric blue BF Goodrich steel over braided hoses, also painted the callipers BLACK. The callipers were in good knick.
New rear lights.
New headlights which cost me big time johny.
Tinted all the glass (dark smoke)
Then shipped it to France. Then my fun really started. I wont bore you with the complete nightmare of french paperwork. What I will say though is if you ever want to export a car to France, when you apply for the certificate of conformity don't put on the form that you have changed anything especially the wheels.
I ended up having to buy another set of wheels in France & removing the Film from the door windows to get it through the D.I.R.E bullshite. Even though the car flew through the Control tecknique (mot).
Anyway almost finished now, just needs the side skirts putting on & the badges & door cards.
I allso fitted full leather from an m3 that a mate totalled. Got no pics of that though.
Also fitted rear strut brace. Still got to get a front one.
Could do with a nice exhaust, as the standard one looks a bit poo.
Will be going over after xmass to finish it.
