Yep, it's staying Mojave Beige, I love the colour . Got a pleasant surprise tonight too, turns out the 1.8L 8v that I'm going to use is a PF code engine! This makes it a MkII GTI motor, complete with big valve head . The next project is rebuilding the head and degreasing/de-rusting everything so I can throw the engine in soon.

I've got the beige interior for it too, as well as some Recaros to reupholster eventually, sorry for the delay in replying. Here's what I've been up to . Best tool EVER! I need to get myself a good starter, and the rear tranny mount, and I'll be ready to start with the wiring .

Loooooooong time no updates, but I've been working my tail off to achieve this... No exhaust, no throttle cable, and no rad...but the hard part is now done .

I've been thinking about the sound (as loud as it is without the exhaust) all day long. I just can't see how anyone would want anything other than a carbed car! I've been into fuel injection for so long...it's refreshing to have something different .

Some decent progress lately, got the closed-throttle and what micro-switches that the CIS-E knock sensing ignition uses mounted up. Now the idle is MUCH nicer, since it drops into a locked timing setting when the idle switch closes, instead of using the vacuum as a reference. Easier to start too. Got my colortune and vacuum balancer on the way, and just in case one set of sidedrafts wasn't enough... Picked up a set of Mikuni 40PHHs yesterday at our club's dyno day. The wife doesn't know yet...

Thanks I'll hopefully have the exhaust on it soon and be able to post a PROPER video . I've gone carb mad I think.

Spent the afternoon under the car, getting filty (I really need to paint the garage floor) and installing the exhaust. Got a nice little vid after I set the idle speed and did a basic sync on the carbs while I wait for my balancer to arrive. I am in LOVE with the sound of these carbs...it's awesome!

It's a 1.8L from a 1990 Golf/GTI. I put the horns back on it last night after the vid, and it's even throatier now . No vid though .

Well, realistically I need quite a bit more time to finish it...but now that the axles are in, brake lines are the only part I need to finish . Here's what it sounds like now, after idle tuning/balancing:

That sounds great, I think that's just helped me decide to put my CBR bike carbs on the Scirocco! Also some more pictures of this (top left, lurking in the dark) would be nice (or if you have time maybe a thread in 'readers other modifications':

Had a bit of spare time today, so rolled the car outside to finish the rad fan wiring, install the wiper mechanism, and finally mount the ECU. The rad fan, wipers, and clutch all work...and the bay is done ;D
