Hi guys, noob to this forum and it looks awesome. Don't know why it took me so long to find it! I have a couple of Mitsubishi Starions over in the emerald isle. Both red, both widebodies. One is standard condition with new turbo, increased boost, k&n with open airbox etc... braided brake lines, performance pads bla bla for a daily driver and the other is my "project". It had been sitting in a dude's garage for the last 14 years after it was crashed into a fox. Minimal damage and bar the headlight area it is in immaculate condtion. Hopefully keep you updated with the work I do on her. Daily: Project: The project came with a heap of spares and has only done 30k miles and looks like new inside. Started first pop too. Have been replacing anything and everything I think warrants. Have yet to take it out on the road for a proper drive - maybe in a year or so!! I'm from NZ and have another starion in NZ that is being built to be a more track oriented car. Multi point conversion with a TD05H big 16g in it. LSD keeps it sideways strictly on track

Funnily enough, I spotted a Starion for sale outside a pub on my way home! I tried to ignore it but I fear I may have to have a closer look...
Don't hear much about them these days so nice going to own two!

The low miles one is going back to NZ for sure - next year hopefully, beat the old car ban that's ben proposed. That would be gutting. They're in Ireland because I've been working here for a few years and couldn't stop myself buying! dollywobbler - do it. They are wicked cars. Strong engine and LSD standard over this side of the world. Thanks for the comments!

Think classics will still be OK like the fulvia but they are looking at bringing in the J emmission standards soon. I just hope the starion doesn't fall into the "too new to be a classic but too old to meet emmissions standards" category! They have had the 20 year rolling classic rule for a while so hopefully that will continue for ONE more year!

O.K. some update action here. I made the decision with the "project" to keep it standard as per factory spec as it's very low mileage for its age (30k miles) and I want to take it back to what it looked like when it rolled off the showroom floor. The daily is going to get a drop of an inch or two when I find the right springs So I replaced the rotten exhaust system on the project with this which is new old stock: The impressive bit is I did this on the floor of our apartment garage without a jack or anything. I've got "curse word" all skin left on my hands at the moment due to old perished rubbers but they've been replaced too. I think all the other residents think I'm too poor to get a mechanic to do my work (which is probably true!). It was a bit of a mission getting hold of new bolts with the right threads etc... here in Limerick and even more of a mission getting it into position on my own. Had to take it on and off three or four times because it wouldn't seal so a bit of manual filing action took place - OLDSCHOOL! Other replacement bits (considering she has been sitting in a garage for 15 years) included dizzy cap, HT leads, rotor button, changed oil and filter etc... tommorrows job is to chuck in a new thermostat, radiator cap (the hard jobs.) Next day I have to do timing belt and water pump so should be fun! Took her out for a spin and totally stoked with the response on throttle. Better than my daily. Problem is with the cold idle. She runs FARKEN rich to the point where it sounds like she's about to stall. Might change the temp sensor but if anyone has any ideas let me know. Not too much of a worry but the black smoke seems to pee off the other residents ;D . The wheels IMO are sex and need no change, BUT they are corroded to wibblepoo and I can see many a night wet and dry sanding them in front of the TV. They are worse than they look. ANY IDEAS ON THE RICH IDLE TELL ME!!! Edit: The smart censor stuff in here makes me LMAO.

Another q for you guys - what tyres can I stretch onto the wheels to make them look a bit better than BALLOON guy going on at the mo. Fronts are 7' and Rears are 8' currently running 205's and 225's respectively. Cheers

Bl--dy censor stuff eh! Just add lots of dashes and away you go! I have recently bought a completely original rx3 coupe with a little rust- wondering if it'll go back to NZ ok? I'm sure its a classic but maybe the goverment will stop me cos its a 'boy racer car'...

Oh I would kill for an old RX-3 or RX-4 coupe. They'll be allowed back for sure but the politicians will probably have bought in a boyracer tax by then Got a thread in here with pics about it? And how the hell do you source rotary parts over here? Nice work.
