Hallo Christian !!!!!
Those of you who do not know, Dave's 13 year old son is always somewhere closeby helping dad, so his hand and knee in green overall in the pic too.
I like the stands you made to rest the van on Dave ...... they look remarkably like a set of 3 carport uprights I recently imported from Osnabruck...... Waste not want not. ;D
Dave, as said before, you are a legend.
Did not want to call you after I finished my job, took another 30 minutes to do it and to clear the garage to get heating on the trailer...... My friend who is off to Belize on Monday called as I came inside , so I only finished at 20.20 with her, and that is too late to phone the Fatherland.
I will report in the other transit thread on here ;D

Dave, I'm not liking those front safety stands if that's your sole means of holding your van up in front.
Add a pair further forwards, please.
Also add some flying buttress gussets from the beams to the bases, to triangulate, should the load shift and it "mousetraps" down upon my favorite busraser from Osna. Being serious. Looks a bit skimpy.

Hey Dude. Liking this whole thread a lot - your van is obviously a labour of love.. I have a question. How do you feel about making all the engine electrics work..? I have an idea to fit a Mazda 3 litre V6 into a Marina - but what I find really huge in the 'can-I-do-it' dept is the thought of all the complex engine management stuff plus fuel delivery systems. How you feel about tackling that - I mean - it seems that your only concern is jamming the bitz in there..??!! Dig yer attitude. Most luck my friend - from the opposite side of the planet..! Chiz, Kilroy

Thanks for all the support guys, it´s a big motivater when you know there are people out there who are interested. It'll be well worth the effort to get it in. I'd be sorely tempted to cut away whatever is in the way of getting it in, sit the engine and box in situ, then fab it all back in round it. Wiring side of things is easy, IMHO it's easier to use the Granny Rev counter and speedo, the electrical connection into the speedo cable is essential if you're gonna keep the auto box as the engine ecu selects top gear. Pm me your email address if you want me to forward smilers wiring notes to you, they made the ford wiring diagram make a lot more sense to me. Thanks for all the info you´ve PM´d me, with help like this it´s just got to work ;D Dave, I'm not liking those front safety stands if that's your sole means of holding your van up in front. Looks a bit skimpy. Norm, it´s probably just a lousy photo but these home made axle stands are rock solid and are going nowhere. I can see your point with the front not being supported but that was the whole idea because i have to get the Cossy in from underneath and they will leave me with a bit of room to move around under. I´ve got a couple more on standby if necessary...... Thanks for your concern mate. Hallo Christian !!!!! I will report in the other transit thread on here ;D Not to sure about the legend bit Rian, but you´re right on one thing mate..oldbus junior is (if he´s at home and not off with his mates) is normally not to far away when garage doors are opened!!! He´s learning by doing so that he (we) can get his MKIII Cortina sorted when the garage finally has room in it! Hey Dude. Liking this whole thread a lot - your van is obviously a labour of love.. Chiz, Kilroy Your right Kilroy, my main concern is whether i can get it to fit or not. The main reason is, the van is pretty small, and the engine isn´t! If i had to worry about doing the electrics myself then this engine swap wouldn´t be happening to be honest. I´m a lousy electrician, i´m really chuffed when i get a radio in and working! Fortunately i´ve got friends in high places and one of them not only is a professional mechanic he´s also an electrical genius - his words - i´ll pop over and sort that out for you - it´s a doddle! So thanks in advance Mike ;D But with the amount of experience and the willingness to help out on here i´m sure there´s someone on here that could help you. Right i´m off out into the garage to get the old engine out.

Got a couple of hours in the garage this afternoon. This is what it´s basically about.... 1500 - 4 cylinders -55 BHP and it´s no longer in there....... As i´d taken out the front axle it´s not really difficult, the only difference to a car really is that it has to go out downwards. What you can´t see on the picture is that this hole is nowhere near big enough for the V6!! To give you an idea check the size difference of the radiators (the van one being the small one that only just fits in!) Well before i can start cutting holes in it all the soundproofing material and carpets had to come out...took us ages! Not going to have another chance to take a pic like this again......hopefully! Next up is to cut the engine cowling away and try and hang the V6 in to see what else i have to lose.....

I am sure you have considered it already Dave, you have that huge tunnel between the grille and the small radiator, would having the new one re-plumbed and fitted sideways at an angle work ?? On another note..... Christian is 6 foot tall, and he is half way down.... looks like the bus is high.

All the plating around the engine is for comfort only and will definately be renewed. Under the floor there are two frames that run the hole length of the van (pics to follow) they are definately structural and i don´t want to modify them if i can get away with it. As the V6 is not much wider at the bottom i might end up having to fit it from above...that should be fun! ;D ;D The choke will be going walkies too...the V6 doesn´t have one....same goes for the clutch pedal and all its levers and rods. I am sure you have considered it already Dave, you have that huge tunnel between the grille and the small radiator, would having the new one re-plumbed and fitted sideways at an angle work ?? On another note..... Christian is 6 foot tall, and he is half way down.... looks like the bus is high. Can´t see me using the Scorpio radiator, to be honest mate, it´s just too big. (even sideways) Will have to be clever with this one, might end up having one made... The van is approx. 10mm under the roof (about 1m off the floor), otherwise i wouldn´t be able to roll the engine in underneath. hey !!! hope itsi all going well ! have been reading this thread for the first time today !! awsome project is that original engine the crossflow 1500? No mate, it´s not an english engine. It´s the 1500cc out of the 50´s Taunus, great little engine and nothing wrong with it, i´ve just grown out of it! ;D

Cheers Michael. Cut all the engine cowling away this afternoon and after taking a few rough measurments looks like i´ll be able to get the Cossy engine in after all......... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Will have to start becoming a little more accurate with my measurments now and get it all mocked up next to see if i need to modify the bulkhead or not...but it´s looking good.

Dave! Pipe the hot water to rear side-pod radiators, like the Zakspeeds!!!
YEY-AHH!!!
Then you can do in-out vents fore-aft in the pods. Would be sick, completely and totally ill.
Mount a "turbo-tail" to rear edge of the roof. Or an RS3100 ducktail!
