Wow! You are steadily making that car better and better. You have very good taste I reckon! Love the new interior, especially the custom elements. My Rochdale Olympic is now K series powered but no where near finished. Similar weight to yours I would guess.

That is a sweet looking mini. Love the K series, is it a fairly straightforward swap, are the bits available off the shelf to fit it. Don't you have to lengthen the front end unless its a clubman? Very clean, gearshift is a work of art

Was wondering on that one too ^^^ - how easy do these go in? Looks a massive amount of detail gone into this little beaut. Some excellent detailing in there too. Good luck with the upgrades - onwards and upwards John

cheers folks! yep they are rover 100 GTA wheels, with the outer rim polished and custom turned centre caps. Its a fairly straight forward conversion if you can do a little fabrication and weld. There are two ways of doing it, either using a metro/rover100/mgf subframe complete with engine, box, driveshafts, suspension, brakes etc etc... or modify a mini frame (basically cut off everything from the towers forward and make from scratch) which then needs custom mounts, driveshafts etc etc.. the mini frame is a lot more work with a lot of fabrication but it will go under a standard length round nose front (i've just completed one for my mate). the metro frame is basically bolted in as complete unit then an extended fibreglass front fitted over (which are available new). I prefer the metro frame as i can be done very cheaply using standard, proven rover parts. you also get better wishbone suspension, bigger brakes as standard and if you smash it you just get another from the scrappy! have a look here, this is my complete build diary and it covers pretty much everything you need to do: www.16vminiclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9797&start=0

thought I update this as i've done a few bits to the car. Firstly its got some new wheels: they are compomotive ML 13 x 5.5" with yoko tyres, I've widened the arches a bit now as well so the tyres are just covered. I did some work on the subframe so the front bar is not visable now. Used the cnc machines at work to make a new gear linkage but haven't got around to fitting it yet changed the rad to a nissan micra auto rad and it works a treat, had to mod the subframe a bit. Got a head done properly by dave andrews (DVA Power) and fitted that along with a different exhaust manifold and remade the exhaust, ran a 14.2 at pod but only got one good run and recon with more practice and stickier tyres it'll break the 13's. Then just for fun I put nitrous on it! running 25bhp jets to start and can't believe the difference, should be just over 200bhp with 170lb/ft torque with the gas...

Bloody hell that looks a nice install, personally i prefered it on the old wheels but its your car I'm toying with a 1.4/6 16v swap for my estate project that I'm slowly doing (will be about 19 when i finally get it done :L) how exactly do yopu mount the subframe to the body tho?

haven't updated for a while and there's been a few changes so here goes, Made a resonator tube for the exhaust to cut drone - works very well actually: Engine has killed the rings (maybe to much nos....) so the nitorus has gone and a new 160 bottom end installed, also converted to the subframe to take inbound springs instead of the coilovers which I found too harsh for the road. All the blingy billet stuff has gone from inside the car (gear linkage, column brace, sitch panel etc) to be replace by mk1/2 stuff for a really retro feel - total sleeper interior! just want to get the dash rails painted body colour and get some original door funiture now. Might try and find a smaller rev counter too.

that final incarnation is just perfect. did you change the FD for a diesel one? I accidentally had an allegro diff in mine and on 10" wheels the gearing was nonsense

Wow!Awesome!
Don't mind me asking but how does it handle compared to an A series with the weight of the engine so far forward?
