hello I'm rob aka bef heres my latest heap of poo a mk5 escort purchased for £20 ( I think I was ripped off ) its a heap of a 1.4 cvh but not for long the day it arrived I wash aboiout 2 years worth of birdpoo and tree sap off curse word from all angles see curse word so in the garage it went after not scrapping it I decided to strip it and do a transplant some rotten pics started on the out side with the rear sills ,let some fresh steel in and got going with the filler made freinds with a local who has a diesel mk5b in his garden as a spares vehicle and for £30 he said take what you need :)result so after a bit of session with a porta power its got a red hooter and a eye job oh the alloys of guilt were swapped for some relays and a pot of tea the hole left by the cvh will be filled with a 2ltr tc from a sierra on bike carbs with a four branch and a bit of gas flowing but keeping the 1.4 gear box colour will be? cant decide! primer grey white and red ,gulf blue and orange , asbo orange or matt black rattle can special

Lets clear up car terms: "Understeer" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car. "Oversteer" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car. "Horsepower" is how fast you hit the fence. "Torque" is how far you take the fence with you.

Wow tell us more. Not everyone is gonna like this I predict, but good for you recycling an old Escort, on a budget too. Have you got the engine already, did you not just fancy a Sierra? what about RS2000 lump and other FWD faves?

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

i will:) the reason behind it is that everybody inculding me says there curse word but ford so nearly got it right, how they managed to step so far back in terms of handling from the xrs and rss ill never know ? perhaps they should of got j stewart back to work on the handling of the mk5s and i thought on a budget of £150 max it must go back on the road and be a hoon to drive , ive had loads of sierras and fancied a change so i swapped the last one for the puggy in the for sale bit ,the engine choice was simple the words free were mentioned :)every single bit of excess weight will be removed even down to the ariel wire up the apost, it will move ( i hope )

@ ics no i don't think so using the tc from the sierra means i can keep the coilpack ignition from the cvh which is dead simple to conect up also with the head gasket replaced on the tc before it goes in will stop the worries on that front

They do already! Can't have seen more than a handful on the road recently. Last time I went to scrappy it was 30% Mk5 Escorts, all looked pretty sound so presume hidden corrosion, duff engines or electrics must be killing them off?

yeah....main fuse boards are a good killer of mk5 'scorts....along with general corrosion problems around sills, rear arches etc.
