Ive got a restoration thread going on the rsoc boards but, heres a condensed picture only thread.
Originaly I was just gonna rebuild the then tired engine and respray the bay in time for our annual trip to lemans last year....then I got a tad carried away and before I knew it, I had the whole car stripped with most of it sat down the powder coaters  Ive owned it around 6yrs now...it was always a clean car but just not minty mint, and when you start to peel back the shiney coat of a 20yr old Sierra you start to find whats hidden beneith...so thought best sort it all in one go
Here's a couple of pics of her before the strip down......
Then....it began.....
Battery tray been removed to provide a nice platform for external swirl pot and second 044 fuel pump.
Barcoat.
I was putting alot of trust in that old peice of rope
and a few more bits have come back to help feed my powdercoating fetish :s: Had them all done gloss black except for the wiper arms which were done satin black to look a little more oe.
So far, ive change the rear tyres to a more suitable to 9j wheels size...now sat on EagleF1 245/40-17y on the rears, I'm leaving the front on 215's as the front wheels are only 8.5j so don't look too bad and it helps with the clearance on my arches. Here's a piccy of the n/s/r wheel with its new boot:
Fills it out quite nicely now
My engine spec:
Stress releived block along with rebore.
Weight matched and balanced and polished conrods along with ARP bolts.
Vanderval shell bearings (mains and big ends)
reground and balanced crank.
Lightened flywheel (forged steel as standard, so safe to do on this) along with balance.
BD12 cams
14mm plenum spacer.
ARP stud and nut kit along with wrc steel headgasket
weight matched 4x4 pistons
Hybrid T4 turbo, with 360 bearing and largened penny washer.
RS500 intercooler
Turbo prerad cooler
grp a air filter (fecking big lol)
uprated coil (will be going dizzyless next tho)
grey injectors at present (these are just for running in...will be going for 750cc for my final map)
Blueflame exhaust (same as mongoose but with bolt together flanges)
AP racing clutch
uprated breather system (sort of obvious its gonna need that lol)
fully rebuilt head, new guides, polished and cc matched compression chambers along with polished valves.
Cometic gaskets used thru out.
Should be a nice and easy 450-470bhp once final live map is completed....if I swap over the inlet manifold and port the head then it'll be over 500bhp but I wanna keep it fairly drivable, no point having sommot you just cant drive properly imo.
Ive also removed the standard PAS cooler and now have a nice and neat small seven row cooler sat behind where the 500grill goes on the n/s. Pic to follow. I'm planning on having a engine oil cooler sat behind the o/s grill along with maybe a remote oil filter housing....just cos it looks cool lol
Replacement vin/colour and warning plaques in polished alloy with laser cut writing/detailing (along side originals for comparison):
Heres a few pics I took just the other week, the sun was out and I was bored basicaly
She should be going in the body shop for the full respray in the next couple of weeks to hopefully return in spring next year. In the mean time ive got a load of other parts to gather up as well as a wheel strip down and refurb (bloody magnesium centres corrode at a stupid rate) and I'll be changing the wheel centre colour to something more like these....
If any of this don't make sense thru being a copy and paste from another site, just ask
Cheers,
Stu.
I'll sort some other pics of the other vehicles some time.
