Hey I'm new to retro rides and would like to share with you wat I am restoring at only 18. basically I wanted a mk2 escort for ages and knew I wanted it as my first car, unfortunatly I couldn't afford it and bought a PUG 309 1.3 with rally decals on it and a cherry bomb exhaust!awesome fun settin off car alarms haha. I sold it and knew I couldn't buy anything unless it was a dirty old ford!!! I found this one lurking in a field in the back of a picture I saw on ebay and asked if it was for sale. it was!!! RESULT!!! the cash was handed over and the car trailered to my mates garage where it was stripped. I worked on it there for some 6 months replacing: Sills Inner + Outer Passenger Floor Pan Front Wings Front Panel Fibreglass Bonnet+Pins Rear Panel Boot Wells+Fabricated Fuel Tank Well (By Daddy:) ) Drivers rear Wheel Atch Inner + Outer 5 Roof Pieces Both Door Skins And Other Patches Around The Boot! I did as much of the work as possible myself and my dad spared many a day to help me. It's been about 5 months now and I had to move it from my mates to my dads in burgess hill west sussex. it has all the bodywork to go and the engine to paint up and then all lights wiring windows etc! I am looking for a 1600 x-flow to put in it or a 1700 x-flow! I Can't Seem To Work Out How To Put Pics On Here?? I Clicked On The Add Image Icon But It Just Said [/img] Any Ideas Guys?

I Got Few Colours Mixed Up, Ford ST Orange, Pageant Blue And Porsche 911 RS Green! I Think It's Gonna Be Porsche green as this will match the wheels and then i will put black bumpers on it and it should look pretty retro. thanks for the pic link

Impressive action for a young dude! love the username too I guess its ya dad that planted the old skool ford seed then yeah? Well done, theres still a few of us a fair bit older hankering for an old 2dr still so you scored well there.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Can't fault you on the enthusiasm/skills front, the Escort's looking promising (and come to think of it the 309 didn't look too shabby either in Works PTS colours). Welcome to Retro-Rides!!

Looks cool mate. A close freind of mine started building a MK2 3 years ago and he was only 18 when he started and like you he did vertually everything himself including the paint job! Here is a pic for insparation.

Good lad! The old skool Ford scene needs new young blood or else we'll all just become tweed jacket with leather patches types in later years  Keep the pics coming...ive found on a resto the feedback off forums helps motivation in what can some times feel like a never ending project.

As for colour it depends what look your going for. retro you want something neutral like beige, blues or off white. In your face porsche green or bright red.

haha yer i am gonna stay with tha green and a black bonnet bumpers interior etc, should look ace. i hate all these chav corsa and such, fair enough if there standard looking with a 2.0 red top but the bodykit and neons just doesn't do it for me!! it has to be old and mint or dirty looking and fast!! or both!! all my mates are into old fords, they own capri's and mk1 fiesta's, one has an oldskool volvo 340gl with a welded diff. can't nbeat a bit oif out action, thats the youth way haha (too many beers i reckon for me)
