The 1600 GL is the base spec, so no reclining rear seat sadly. However, I'm going to try and source some better seats for it.
I spoke to a chap who has a Galant Turbo, when I owned this car and he told me widebody Starion seats bolt straight in - I'll dig up his email if you fancy finding out what other bits bolt in. There is also another guy in Leamington spa who has a turbo too.
I've said it before and i'll say it again, I'm very happy to see the car in your hands Hirst!

Starion seats would make for a nice cosy interior! Mitsubishi stuff doesn't seem to get as big a scene tax as Toyota/Datsun stuff either which is a bonus for stuff like this. And thanks!! I'll try my best..... Is the other guy the one who owns Oldermitsubishis.co.uk? I need to get in touch with him still. Cool site, I linked it on OJC. Dude, I reckon you could easily lead in those arches. Frost do a kit for a few notes, think it's about £18, all you need is some heat, then have a go! I'd like to try my own bodywork but I've nowhere inside to do it! I'm going to prepare some of it though, going to make a big order of Bilt-Hamber products soon. What's the Frost kit out of interest?

Nice fourth gen Galant you have there. My Eterna is pretty much the two door version of this, except with 2L turbo and IRS etc.

Thanks! On the wheels and car respectively. With the amount of part robbing you can do from other Mitsubishi models, I'm really surprised nobody seems to see the potential in these.
All I need is a fairly bashed up Starion and I'll be sorted. That's a long way in the future though.....

Haha yeah that will make it go alright. Wont be able to swap over the IRS though, different mounts I'm pretty sure.

Very minor update..... Snapped up a cheap black Nardi steering wheel for the Charmant, meaning I can put the black one in the Charmant and take the silver one out to put in the Galant: The stock vinyl wheel has gone a bit brittle and wasn't very nice to use. Plus I had a Nardi Mitsubishi boss spare from my first wheel, so it all falls into place! As a bonus the new wheel comes with a Mazda boss, so I'll punt that on to recover some cash. Either that or I'll just keep it, buy a Mazda, then get hold of a Nardi wheel with a Toyota boss, buy a Toyota, etc etc. Also ordered some pressed plates as a Christmas present "for the car", pics when I get them I suppose. They're 80s style ones, not Serck, but close enough. Might get it all insured properly and bring it back home for the big clean next weekend! This weekend I couldn't, but luckily the weather has been absolutely miserable anyway!

There are a couple of dudes on www.starion-turbo.co.uk selling good nick front seats if you are looking for them (not me!). Good snug seats too IMO. Good luck - I'll be following this thread closely

Imagine all the money you save, in that each time you buy a new car you already have a new boss to suit. I'd get one of those 929 pop-up light coupes from Europe. Looks good anyway!

For more Team Beige hi-jinks, have a read of the latest Practical Classics! It's so good that you should buy it, too. Not just lurk in the back of WH Smiths, dirtying the pages with your grease-stained fingers. Amongst other things, there's a pretty funny letter from a Cavalier owner.
Apart from that, I should soon get my hands on a cheapo Yazaki gauge (think it was a voltmeter) which will suit the interior pretty well with the little chrome surround and white on black text. This will be stored away for the super secret "Phase 2", which will need to wait until I hit 25 (I'm 23 now) and my insurance comes down enough for the mechanical work to commence. Until then I will keep collecting odds and ends and concentrate on making it look cool.
When I get the cool wheels and suspension sorted, will it be mad enough to go back in the magazine I wonder?! Probably not, would be funny though.

Should be actually doing some work on it in soon, will be in daily use shortly. Until then, have one of my new metal plates: The bottom bit says "The Colt Car Company Ltd" because I'm a bit sad. From here: www.pl8s.co.uk/ - well recommended! Very fast.

Got up this morning and retrieved the Galant, moving it to its new home. It needed a lot of cleaning, as well as generally being a bit filthy (mostly from being sat around), the paintwork was a bit flat and tired. Therefore I've spent about 6 hours washing, claybarring, polishing and waxing the car. Makes a huge difference for not much cost, just lots of elbow grease. It looks smart now, but you'll have to take my word for it as by the time I'd finished it was dark: Next on my urgent jobs list is to figure out why the washer jets won't work, I think the motor is buggered. I should sort out the new tyres/wheels combo soon too, as the budget tyres on it now are feeble! Edit: People get upset if I overtake them in this car even more than the Charmant! Result. Edit 2: Tyres ordered!

ahh PUX 510X! yesterday I was following a dark blue mk1 fiesta on the motorway, I was racking my brains as to why the plate was so familiar . It was PUX ***X too very close to the galants plate, it looked pretty tidy too.

I like old "Puxy" already, it is a fairly memorable plate! Anyway, here are some shots of it cleaned in the daytime, blacked up the trim and gave it another coat of wax this morning: Has come up well, though being a dull day the pics don't do it much justice I suppose. The interior is still very dusty though, will deal with that in a bit. Now I've had time to inspect the car properly, it is pretty free of rust, but there are a few areas needing attention. The driver side front door has a little hole in the bottom, but it's localized to a small area so I definitely won't need a new door, the other doors seem OK. The rear strut tops could do with welding sooner or later, shouldn't be a big deal. The rear arches could do with a bit more metal in them, but the fronts are fine. There's a few misc little bits of surface rust on the valance seam, sills, rear bumper, inside panels behind doors etc. which I'll take care of myself. To be honest I'm amazed how straight it is, none of the usual door panel dings you'd expect, just weird little bits of rust. Trim is in good condition too, just a few scrapes and the like. Better than the Charmant was! Might bosh those metal plates on it today, see how it looks. With a bit of luck, I should have those tyres on the wheels next week and then I'm ready to join the "cool club" and hopefully the "not losing the back end all the time on gravel roads club".
