hi all well as title says really I have just bought a mazda rx7 1988 mk2 model got it for £775 its right in all the places but and a big but its up on the miles (not bothered about that). it hunts up and down ,the interior light don't work,the temp gauge and the oil pressure gauge don't workand it used to be black but now white. but on the plus points its moted untill july goes like stink and I am well happy with it for the money dylan

Host them somewhere externally like image shack then stick the pic addy inbetween the [/img] tags. Is it turbo or just efi?

its just efi no turbo i would have liked your baby but as said out of my price range i will have a look at photo imaging but new to all this so i will do my best dylan

bloody hell yes sold the viva last week wanted some thing 80's and quick going through a early mid life crissis your viva looks awsome i never had the guts to do this to mine as it had a 10 grand resto in 1996 and was standard right down to the radio (lol) dylan

yer an old retired gent bought it he even phoned me the next day to say how pleased he was and that it never missed a beat on the 80 mile trip home . mmm any plans for the rx 7 well first is start to sort out the gauges that don't work have a LOOK TO SEE WHY ITS HUNTING UP AND DOWN BUT REVS OK AND GOES WELL A VERY STRANGE ONE and then on my wish list a stainless exhaust system first a service but no electric in the garage so week ends only at the min as looking for a job still got a few days here and there dylan

i don't know if they are 3rd gen wheels this is how it was when i bought it and I'm always up for a deal fuel don't seem to bad 25 to the gallen I'm used to big engined cars so don't bother me as my daily driver is a diesel dylan

Yes, those are 3rd-gen wheels.
When you say it hunts up and down, do you mean it doesn't idle consistently? I have no idea why that is, but someone on AusRotary might be able to help you out (www.ausrotary.com). Though you have to be prepared for them there to tell you to put an aftermarket ECU on it, rather than keeping it stock.

Is it an auto? it's a common problem on auto series IV/V RX-7s when they are cold. 3 things to improve fuel consumption: 1. change the plugs 2. get the timing right 3. replace the clogged catalytic converter with a new one.
you will also need to perform some sort of exorcism/pagan chanting/goat slaying to get the guages and electrics to work, IV/V's are notorious for well, curse word electrics. try and install some, hell I've forgotten what they are called now, but basically half of the switches in the car have too much current being drawn through them so they burn out. Power window switches are a good example. Nice and tidy example of a Second Generation though.

no its a manual, the exhast will be first to get changed having a custom fit jobie from down pipe back in a few weeks time got to save up again now (but don't tell the missis). chanting may help lol with the electrics i will try it or hit the clocks with a hammer dylan
