This is the car as I first bought it for £250 with lots of tax and test 2 previous, almost full history and just about to turn 160.000 miles The colour is petrol blue and is quite rare as far as I can find out I had just removed some nasty clear front indicators in favour of the original orange ones. Original interior That was soon replaced by leather which I picked up for £100 I bought some sportline alloys from the same chap with good tyres for £35 ;D Decided to remove the nasty chrome arches to find both front wings rotten as hell!! Thankfully both rear arches were mint under the chrome pieces of curse word New genuine front wings in the process of being fitted And finaly a few pics of how the car looks now Well thats just a brief history of the car since I have had it. There is lots more to do but there always is isnt there ;D

Fantastic! Always great to see a set of chrome arches getting binned as they look uber-shat.

Intersting that the colour does so much for the car.
Well done on the arches as said above.

Car smartened up really nicely!
I quite like 190E's - they're on my list.

I've always liked these and can see me getting one at some point.
Looks like you've transformed a bargain price motor into a very comfortable cruiser for little cost, the leather looks brilliant and the alloys set it off a treat! Nice work - glad I'm not the only orange indicator fan too!

Thanks chaps It certainly was a nervous time taking those arches off!! after what i found under the front ones i was shatting my pants about what id find under the rear ones. But thank feck they were mint Its a loverly car to drive with its silky smooth straight 6 engine. pretty quick too. Not quite as quick as the beemer 325's but no slow coach thats for sure.

I`ve had the pleasure of driving a 2.6 190 recently, they really are something else.

I`ve had the pleasure of driving a 2.6 190 recently, they really are something else. They are indeed mate The last of the truly over engineered Mercedes. The W202's that came after were shocking in the build quality quarters. And so has been pretty much all of the MB offerings ever since!! Once the bean counters took hold it was downhill all the way

What are your plans with her? Modify?
It looks like a tidy 190 now, those wings have really transformed it!

Well it needs a drop thats for sure. it sits like a 4x4 at the mo and the sussy is in super soft comfate mode so it rolls around on the corners quite a bit. Having said that it still handles superb even though the door handles are scraping the road on the bends ;D

Very nice! Ive had a couple of these and they are so much more refined than the 4 pot 102 lump. The added bonus is that in the (unlikely) event of it ever needing a new engine the 103 3 litre lump from the W124 goes straight in to a 2.6. The 24 valve version would fit but you cant close the bonnet cos of the cam cover! I had a 3 litre 190E and it flew!!

I'm not sure how its shoehorned in but i have seen loads of pics of them. AMG did a few conversions back in the day. They did a 3.6 24v and even a 5.0 v8 so it can be done!! Whilst i was cleaning the engine bay the other day i thought id scrape a bit of the peeling rocker cover paint off. i started with one little piece and ended up peeling almost all of the paint off in one go!!
