Oh dear, what have I done......................... I've known the car for about 6 years as it belonged to a good mate. It was her first car and we used to do the whole Mini show thing back in the day. Evidence of this can be found here; www.geocities.com/red_dwarf_and_co/photos.htmlDISCLAIMER: this is an old site not put together by me, I have not contributed or had any input but fear after the pic Stuyizz posted I have nothing to lose. Please enjoy and laugh at my expense! As you may have gathered by now the car is called Horny Terrapin Farmer after its HTF numberplate. So for those of you who do not want to trawl through loads of old pics of me looking stupid heres how it did look; Yes, this car had balls.... So she used the car to get to uni everyday and then it was laid up for 2 or so years. Now she has moved back she needed her garage back for all her stuff and I agreed to buy it Well I had a quick poke and today it looks like this; 998 poWerz LHS Rear bin/ Subframe mount I know how this guy feels; Luckily stuffed in the loft of my garage I have a load of Mini panels from when I used to play. I also have these; So it will be on its , 10's and Fiesta calipers with 7.9" Discs. Not sure what I'm going to do engine wise, I'd kinda like to keep it 998 as they are such sweet engines and concentrate on suspension and weight reduction. The front end is worse than I thought though so it may well end up flip fronted like my first Mini; and I quite fancy putting MK1 lights/ grille in it like my second mini; Incidentally if anyone has seen AEE151L about I'd love to know where it is and what state its in? So there you go, its going to be a slow over winter spare time thing so I will keep you updated as/ when anything happens. If anyone wants to post pics of good Minis for inspiration go for it!

Very cool didn't know you were into Minis. You have your work cut out with that one for sure. Previous minis all look very good, liking the white one! Rainbow mambas are awesome

*Looks forwards to Racer86 knocking the Mini scene sideways* .. Wonder if you could take some inspiration from some N600s and the like?

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

If you had asked me last Saturday if I was a Mini guy I would have laughed! I used to be well into it when I was 16/17/18 but the scene was so dry it killed it for me. For me a Mini is only good because it is rubbish; bad engines, bad rust, crappy-ish to work on, bad suspension but it all just works and they are so much fun to drive. I have found that generally the less power they have the more fun they are on account of you get them into 4th and never brake or lift. As soon as you go above stage 1/2 stuff starts breaking and they are a pig. The plan is to go light and low but most of all cheap!!! I appreciate your faith................... *cough*

Maan I want to build a Mk1 Polo that looks like this ;D Looks like you've got your work cut-out there with the Mini - i'm waiting with baited breath as to what it will end up like, looking at what your influences are I've kind of skirted around the fringes of the Mini scene - with friends that have been into it - funnily enough most of whom have been Tamworth folk, and as you say the scene is somewhat stale - but I guess thats true of all one marque/one model followings.... plus the members seem to be generally much younger - which makes me feel old

My very first car was EXACTLY the same model, colour and trim as this one. H-plate, too. My family bought it cheap repaired after a back-end shunt, for my 17th B'day. It had only 16k miles on it, and I took myself and 3 siblings to school in it every day... The syncro went just a year later so I bagged a fresh engine and box from a scrapped tidy-looking MG metro (absolutely loads in breakers at that time), and swapped it one sunday morning. It went like sh!t off a shiny shovel after that (DOUBLED the hp overnight!!!). I accidentally on purpose forgot to tell my insurers about the mod...looked standard to me, officer ;D Sorry for the ramble -- happy days. Good luck with HTF

Shock Horror; An update! Well unfortunately this thing is still rotting in my garage and instead of doing the decent thing and listing it on Ebay then getting something good to play with I took to it with an angle grinder in a fit of inspiration. mmmmm grot. This is a running theme with the vehicle This morning I got back from Himley Hall Mini show with the final panels I need; A front panel, pair of wings and a rear valance. I now have this lot and a scuttle panel that's not in the picture!; Other gubbins I have been amassing include this set of cooper S disc's. Turns out the Fiesta conversion won't fit under Mamba's so S was the way to go. They are rebuilt with stainless pistons, new seals, braided hoses and grooved disc's. They came with shafts and hubs so should be a straight swap. They do need new inner CV boots and a clean and paint but that is no hassle. I have decided to go with Mk2 lights as Mk1's are played out (and more work). Other tat includes a steering drop bracket and a ram pipe I found under my bed. It's a Mini Adventure* *By adventure I mean horrible upside down weld-a-thon culminating in arc eye and a bad tan.
