Hello you lot, This is my first thread, so I guess I will introduce myself and my car...my name is warren, and I live in Canada, as per my username, and I'm only 14...but have a mini project on the go! Some may know me from TMF. Anyway, This project is already started, so you won't get as many pics as my first thread ;D but I will give you the important ones.
So as a basic rundown, I bought this a little over a year ago, from my boss (I work part time as a cleaner, small car jobs etc. at a mechanic's shop, and the owner loves minis, and we do all sorts of British cars...) for 500 quid (1000 canadian dollars) but it had no engine, but the body isn't too bad. since then, i've stripped it down for bodywork, which will happen at the end of the month, and i've also almost fully rebuilt a motor, the end cost will total around 1500 pounds, as I get discounts, assistance etc. from my very, very accomadating boss...he even got me a great deal for the bodywork!!! Paint will cost me though, because he doesn't know many painters, haha! so the spec of the engine is:
998 block, with new 1098 pistons and rings, a 12G202 cylinder head, with some combustion chamber shaping, porting, double valve springs...as well as an LCB, Twin 1 and 1/4 SU Carbs, new (1098) crank, rebuilt transmission, and cleaned up ancillaries...all that is left, is too clean up and attach the carbs and radiator. Then the bodywork is next...well heres some pics, I'll explain more later, and if you have anymore pic requests...feel free!! I don't have any pics of the engine in it's current state.
Oh yes, and I have mk1 tailights, and grille (to be painted body colour, which I plan to be smoke grey with a black roof) as well as 6x10 mambas. The flywheel is actually a 1960's forged one, 5 lb lighter than stock, and apparently it's rare, and a good 'un. Oh, and the cam is a cooper 's', reground to a custom spec, in and around I think it's a 731? I forget who made it, but it's going to be driveable, but a bit pokey, I think
