Great job on the car and keeping track of the hours spent, I spend almost as much time staring at my project wondering what to tackle next as I do working on it Even at mates rates it's going to sting a bit! I'm sure I spotted your black Pop on a recent Adam C YouTube vid

Yer can't mask it up and then threaten to clear off skiing! That's just cruel. Think of us devoted followers waiting for your return and a completed glossy paint job. We'll be like faithful little puppy dogs whining at the door and peeing on the kitchen floor.

^^^^ lol! keep that kitchen floor clean!! Well, phase one of this weeks work went to plan. Body was spot primed on all the areas where we had broken through to metal or where filler had been applied. A posts looks better tonight; Roof repairs sealed up; And the bootlid had the last 2 coats applied. Lets hope tomorrow goes to plan as well. 647.5 hours.

Phase 2 tonight ended up being phase 1.5, lol I had hoped to get 2 coats of primer on tonight using the wet on wet system, but reading up on the specs the window was minimum one hour for the second coat so not practical to do in an evening. The second coat will have to be done tomorrow. For the primer coat I got out my big gun, a Devilbiss JGA. These are lovely guns if a bit old fashioned now but they do spray very nicely. I have 2 of them, a primer gun with a 1.8 tip and a topcoat gun with a 1.4 tip. I know it looks like all the other photos, but Phil reads this and will like to see the car in it's first 'proper' coat of paint. After that it's the tedious but very necessary stripping of the gun and thorough cleaning of all parts including all of the passageways & tubes to get it spotless. I have painted with this gun probably getting on for 100 times but it remains as new as you know it will always paint properly if it's clean. 649.25 hours.

Can't believe the progress on this, I check in every lunchtime at work for a catchup. It's also a fantastic reference for where to get paints & fillers for when I start my MG in the summer.
I just wish I had the enthusiasm every night like you do to go out to the shed, hardest bit is getting off of the sofa and out of the door, once outside even an hour can make a difference.

Thanks for the comment - they help keep the enthusiasm up.
It's a chore to push myself out there some nights I admit. But once out there I enjoy it. If it were my car I would have a lot more nights off, but we have a deadline to meet.........

Many lurkers and rare posters do not always realise that the posts are often very motivating And you are right, some days/nights itis a chore, but once you start it continues to be a pleasure.

Phase 2 now complete. Second coat of epoxy primer now applied. I added some black into the grey to darken it so it was easy to see where I was applying new paint. It also makes it slightly resemble the final colour. the next phase for the week is to get gloss on the front chassis rails and the bulkhead tomorrow night if possible. Feel free to comment. 650.5 hours.

Can we get some TV style false jeopardy on the go?? ;-) You mean like a few irriplaceable parts getting broken or the shiny fresh paintwork getting damaged by a muppet.
I think we can all agree BPR is far to professional for shenanigans like that.

Inspired by this thread, I did get off of the sofa last night and do an hour in the garage. Mainly faffing but very rewarding none the less.

Thanks for all the replies, dabhand glad I motivated you martin42006 I'm not a professional, just a slightly talented amateur. 75swb Phil said if it's not done by next Tuesday at 10.57AM he's gonna come round & kneecap me!! Also there will be a big unveiling at 4.15am next Saturday week so it all has to be done by then - & I'm off skiing on Sat morning -will I manage to complete it all by early sat morning before I fly??? I'll have to work through the nights 24/7 with only toilet & pizza breaks to make it!!!!!!!!! And some of the parts will not arrive in time and maybe the car wont start!!!

Good bit of progress again blackpopracing And it keeps you out of mischief too Is it essentially just paint, then bung it all back together ready to drive away next Saturday? Or just an unveiling?

Nah, that was just for TV comments to keep 75swb amused It needs to be done for Wheels Day on Good Friday. Needs to be done a bit sooner really as I need to do a few jobs on mine before the season starts as well.

Moving on tonight, I flatted off the primer on the bulkhead and front chassis rails and laid on the first 2 coats of gloss from the chassis crossmember under the A posts to the front of the chassis. Quite tricky to do all of that at once without touching the chassis rails so I might split the front chassis rails as a separate job and just do the bulkhead and under the floor for the next coats. It looks good in the photos so I wont mention the 2 fairly large runs in it.....dammit, I just mentioned them But I only said it once and I don't think anyone noticed The before shots for reference from last March; And after tonight; 652.5 hours.
