Wow!, did you sleep?? Thanks for reading it all, yes the BIVA was a bit of a pain, but I'm 100% legal now so no worries for the future. Put a build thread up, we all like to read them

As the car is due at the Practical Classic & Restoration show at the NEC next weekend I though I had better tidy up the window decals. The originals were peeling off at all the thin points of text so I have downsized them 20% and I will add a clear cover over the top which hopefully will be almost invisible.

Why not have the decals reverse printed, then you can stick them on the inside ?

That's an option, but they would not 'pop' like external ones. Would still have the issue of them peeling as the font is just too thin to stick to the glass.
I've got the clear film to cover them today, tried a bit on the garage window & it's almost invisible so should fix the problem to my satisfaction.

Clear overlay put on, about 90% happy with it. Not quite as tight to the letters as I'd like but at least I can polish the glass without picking up the edges now. I'll trim the excess back with a razor soon to make it a bit less obvious. and a bit of bling

Would the clear sit down to the letters if you heat it? You may find with heat and pressure the sharp corners of the green where it was cut will flatten down a little and make less of a gap?

Tried that already Phil, it works a bit but not enough. I think I'll talk to another graphic company to see if the green can be printed directly to the clear and then have the clear cut around 3mm bigger than the green letters. I'm sure the modern vinyl wrap companies would be able to do this.

Figures. I couldn't see vivid green print being a non-option. At least then it won't peel up!

I'm sure the modern vinyl wrap companies would be able to do this. This is exactly what I was about to propose as a solution. I've seen this done for several custom stick on windscreen sunvisor bands. They've ranged from clear with any colour lettering to tinted with mostly white lettering. I should think this is your best bet.

Back from the Restoration show at the NEC, good show but quite a tiring weekend. And Alan on the NSRA committee gave me a cool window sticker;

Random photos in garage tonight because I though it looked good under the lights. Bonnet scoop; and roof; Looking at the photos, I really should have dusted the sawdust off first.
