^^^ many thanks for thinking that. bit more done, exhaust collectors are too sharp as they are, Wayne at OddRods made me some exhaust hangers and also cut these end plates very kindly for free - thanks Wayne. They will be fixed on with the collector blanking plate bolt with the bit of tube welded flush. And all completed - plates have a 3mm radius both sides Also completed the exhausts, 99Db at 3200 rpm in garage without the insert baffles, might fit the baffles for the test just to make sure. Left them a bit long at present as not sure yet where to cut them off. Either blue line is an option, they will be painted black to 'lose' them when done.

^^^ ha-ha!
Sounds a bit dull when running now, be interesting to see what it sounds like when I take it on the road. Hopefully be able to drive it a local private test track one evening this week which should perk up my MoJo.

Will the DVSA bods allow the open header pipes through the test? (obviously not without the blanking plugs ) Glad you have finally resolved the noisy exhaust output with the silencers now, must still seem like a long way off for test I guess

Should do yes. They fall within the boundary (40mm inside) of the car so should not even be considered except for the radiused edges. I might add some running boards for the test to make sure though I need to pull my finger out and send paperwork off - as I think the car is 95% there now.

Not done much recently on it - home chores have taken precedence. Been detailing the chassis number with white paint so its easily readable and finishing off the wiring where it was spliced into the loom for the trailer plug. Also swapped all the glass out for the new IVA compliant glass. Looks good with the green tint to it. Car was looking very sorry for itself with a load of curse word all over it from working in the garage and the leaky roof so pulled it out today and gave it a good wash and polish, nice mojo boost to see it looking good again. I then took it out for a drive on a local private track - I remember why I built it now - wooohoooo My tuning has not worked though as it bogs down worse now than it did - need to get the AFR guage hooked up to see what it's doing. Brakes work again after polishing all the rust off them and the exhaust is quiet!! whe I back off all I can hear is tyre noise and the fuel pump....hmmmmm.........sounds good when I boot it though. One issue recently was my Holley Blue top pump had developed a small leak from the upper breather hole - a common fault by all accounts and not fixable, but after the run today its no longer leaking, so maybe like other bits of the car it needs to get used.

Many thanks mr camper. Had a go at tuning the carb this weekend, went down 1 size on the main jets which got the AFR up from 11.7 to nearer 13. Test drive showed the car pulling far stronger than I've ever felt before So after that I went a size larger on the metering rods which got the AFR at just over 14, so nearly there (looking for 14.7). Test drive worked nice - pulled well and tyres now start to break loose at around 25mph as the engine gets into the cams power band - never done that before! All in all not bad a bad day but I'm not so sure about the cam - I think its knocking a little but not entirely sure as it may just be the exhaust noise, will need to investigate. Fuel pump has stopped leaking completely though A couple of pictures for a mojo boost - note towbar & fog/reverse lamps now fitted.

Love that front view, looks really mean and evil. Maybe one of Christine's great aunts or something :-)

Can kinda see it with some dull red LEDs backlighting the grill and side vents.

Now you know why I have my fingers crossed that the Fitech does what it is advertised to do. I mean, age-wise, I am of the Carburetor era but lets face it, once the Zippo lighter was invented, I would have stopped banging stones together to make fire!
So, despite all the hoops you have to clear for the IVA tag, they let you run wheelie bars on the street?

Bjornagn they don't really let me run them, but they don't ever stop you either they will need to go for the test though. If I were building from scratch I would go for a later LS7 engine with full FI or like you go for the fitech system. Test, hopefully within 3 months if I pull my finger out.

No front exhaust is ok. It's 40mm inside the body line (line drawn from edge of front wing to edge of rear wing)so only has to meet radius criteria (hence the covers shown earlier).

We had some stuff needing powder coating for customers so it seemed rude not to sneak some of my bits into our order too And yes the powder coating will cope with the exhaust heat as my header blanking plates are coated and have lasted fine. No good for nearer the block though.
