No crossover no - would like to have had one but the problem of space rears it's ugly head again! These cars are just so small! and then fools like me add huge engines to make it worse That's a good enough reason I guess If it comes to it though, is there not room between the sump and bell housing to fabricate a link pipe to? they are only usually 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 diameter anyway, never seen one the same size as the rest of the exhaust. Just evens out the exhaust pulse with sharing the charge robbing between banks

I have thought about that - if it's only 1.25" then it might be possible and it would give (even) more torque.

I did some bodgnosity on the exhausts today - only on one side with the 19" muffler so far. Not the best fit as it hangs down 1" more than the original exhausts and is very close to chassis - 1/2" - a 17" long one would fit so much better if they made such a thing. Note the professional masking taped joints But at idle we now have this 84Db! And at 3200 rpm we now have this, 99Db so not quite there but it's inside the garage & the other side is not as quiet. I can also put some restrictor plates in the flange ahead of the muffler which will help too. I'll try the 14" one in a bit when its cooled down to see what levels that gives. I think the 18" Magnaflow will fit slightly better as they are a bit narrower as well (1/2") so it's probably worth risking the money in buying them.

Hooray! This noise reduction seems even more difficult than electricity control.

Keep up the good work I assume you can do what you want after the IVA has been passed ?

Smaller 14" muffler was only slightly louder - approx 87Db at idle and 100 Db at 3200 rpm. I added my earlier baffles into the pipe in front of the 19" mufflers again and this gave 98Db at 3200 rpm so thats a pass then!!!!! Hurray!!!!!!! (99Db is the limit) I also got the towbar wiring harness half done - the plug is fitted into the back of the rear valance under the car. And when the towbar is removed it's just the plug with a rubber cover.

Keep up the good work I assume you can do what you want after the IVA has been passed ? Legally, no. It ought to remain as tested but if I can't get the same exhausts in the future (no longer made etc) then I might have to buy louder ones again.

Was the test also with the other side doing best to sway the readings to a fail? - Either way, you have a solution to move forward with and a draw full of tubes and bends for the next project

Excellent news about the noise levels.
I'm more of a lurker than a poster, but feel I had to comment.
Keep at it.

There is more effort going into the exhaust of this than all the effort put into my last 15 cars!
Keep up the good work must be a relief to be so close now?

Andrew, yes - still noisy side fitted to the other side. I'll order the Magnaflow mufflers now with some tubing and get a proper system built. I might add a flange after the mufflers rather than welding the end tips on - gives me the oportunity to add another restrictor if required. Thanks for all the positive comments everyone

Ordered the Magnaflow mufflers today - not in stock so could be a few days but he's going to try for delivery tomorrow. I have to recommend nemesisuk.com/ for the mufflers, they offered (without me asking) to let me run the engine through them to check sound levels to make sure they are ok and they are happy to take them back if no good or if they don't fit. How good service is that?

Exhaust trimmed & fitted today, in garage testing gave me 82-84Db at idle and 99Db at 3200 rpm with the perforated inserts fitted - so it should just scrape through the test with those figures. It should be quieter outside though and I may add another restrictor after the muffler to make sure. One complete side - curved end section will get remade in stainless. End of exhaust pipes have to have a rolled tip on them - some thinking time later I came up with the idea of using my offcuts of stainless brake pipe. A bit of bending round some tube and some trimming made these; Which can be tacked on the tube like this.

So IF you cant get Q53POP WHEN you pass ....do you also have the chance to get a personal plate on it still?...what i don't get is if Red Victor had to do the IVA and now has a personal 6 digit plate then how come you cant and just have to accept whatever your given?
Your SOOO close now!! ....was getting near the newer posts and was hoping it was all done and dusted.... now its bookmarked for the final part of the story!....and then the trailer....and ...then ...whatever is next ;-) ...amazing Talent
