Echo is hilariously cool. I've kinda lost the run of the thread Mark, where are you in relation to getting the IVA test? Chassis plates are lovely, who makes those?

Whether you believe you can, or you cannot, you're probably right.

Not much to report - business move has been a bit troublesome so no time for car stuff. I did drive down to Kent 2 weeks ago to borrow a friends back wheels that have the correctly marked tyres, unfortunately when I tried fitting them to my car I found he has Jag/Chevy stud pattern on his Ford half shafts - 8ollocks. Another trip back to Kent to return and a call to Hoosiers to order some tyres - nearly £900 for two without fitting - ouch Worse - they wont be in the UK till mid May. Finally rang up DVSA to book test as we are getting on top of the work situation - I was not in a hurry as they told me April was completely free but now I have called they are fully booked until June I managed to get a 7AM booking on 21st May though (as no one else wanted it, lol) so hopefully the tyres will be in the UK in time though it will be very close. A little work done on car, finally found a hidden antenna from www.moss-europe.co.uk/retrosound-hide-away-amplified-aerial-230-555.html so I wired this in and it works really well. Found a fair bit of trim when I removed it has come unglued so had to re stick it with trusted Thixofix - the 'professional heatproof' glue has peeled off. Also found some better front tyres with a higher speed rating - 155's (currently 145's fitted) so a little more grip width and far better grip as newer design modern tyre so will get those bought over the next couple of weeks. Another little job done was to fit a drain tube to the fuel filler neck housing as I expect they will want to see this.

Just got news today from Hoosier that my tyres will not arrive in time for the test Decided to put it through with the Mickey Thompsons fitted - they will fail but I expect there will be other fails as well so at least I will not lose more time by putting the test off. It will also give me a definite list of 'fixes' required to pass which I can do while I wait for the tyres. I did refit the rear drivers side window tonight - I'd removed it as it did not sit right in the frame, so some 'adjusting' of the frame with a bit of filler had it sitting flat so the seals fit much better now. Not much else to report as its just sitting there waiting for the test day (May 24th) now - no more jobs left to do that I can think of. I do need to take a day off work to get the higher speed rated front tyres - but just so busy at the moment.

Thanks for the update - I'm sure we will be holding our breath on the 21st!....I bet the list of 'fixes' required will be very short!

Well its 3 days to go to the test and I was happily chilled out knowing it would fail due to not having the correct rear tyres. I went off today to get the new front tyres with the higher speed rating - tried them on the car tonight as they are a bit bigger and they fit ok - so that's good. My Firestone 145/15 F560's will be for sale now) I then got an email from Hoosier Tyres to say my rear tyres will arrive with me tomorrow - eek! that means I will have them on for the test. Stress levels now shot up as it could* actually pass!!! *this is not very likely of course.

Given the work you've done, unless there's a bit that says, "Black Anglias automatically fail", what's stopping it? It's so radical George - ther's bound to be a few bits Ive missed/not got right. I'm kind of looking at it as a 'pre test' which will tell me the bits I need to fix for the 'proper' test later, lol.
