Are they the only manufacturers plates that are fitting? If they are I would recommend taking one the same but stamped into aluminium with two holes for bolts in. Although mass production vehicles will use stickers IVA has a specific description for "Securely attached" - They IVA man will prefer to see a stamped and bolted/riveted on plate as it ticks all the boxes without having to think about it.
Snag list - First time round we failed on
Manufacturers plate - Even though it came from the manufacturer - we told them it did not comply with the book but they said " we have never had one fail on that" Idiots. - They sent a second one - guess what - still non compliant. Did our own. Fuel line connections - Not known and not seen by us the guy who started the build had used solder fittings mid way along car to extend copper lines. Seat back gap between seat and head rest - That one caught us out. Radius of the stock Sierra Hazard switch - no screen so no exclusion zone behind Steering wheel. Thought that one petty Flexi brake line run on full lock touching part of chassis - Fair enough - missed that A couple of bolts loose on suspension.

I went with stickers which are the same as OEM - so are acceptable - as I have no permanent panels on the car to fix a plate to. Every panel is removable so no good to fix a plate to. The only fixed parts are the outer body skin but obviously not a good place to bolt a plate to! Rivets can be drilled off - this sticker is not removable unless sanded off.

Just to add, I engraved a label for a friends car that went through a few months back, this was rivetted with 4 rivets to his floor and the tester moaned saying rivets can be drilled off and he would have preferred to see it epoxy bonded on - it did pass anyway but it just shows the inconsistencies of individual testers.

Are you going to the same test station?

Well it was a good but tiring weekend at the NEC show. The Pop was nearly no more on the way home - a blowout on the trailer on the motorway was a big brown trouser moment - trailer was wagging the car over 2 lanes and it was getting really bad - really thought I was going to lose it with the pop on its side luckily got it under control and had to change a wheel at the side of the motorway - I was counting the miles down home after that!!!!

Lordy, imagine that ignoble end for this car after all the work and documentation of that work. Glad you only ended up needing new trousers and not a new car!

Does the chassis have to be stamped with chassis number as well? I know my kitcar has both a plate and the chassis stamped, as it was commented on at the inspection.

sounds great, I'm guessing you don't have to pass a drive by noise test for the IVA!

Oh yes there is! but I think that aspect has been addressed already (as you would expect given all the work so far). Glad the NEC went well and that the blowout was survived - I had a(My) trailer wheel go past me once....fortunately I was on a suburban street so only 28mph.....

Yes there is a sound test - idle and at speed. I may have to cap the exhausts for the test

Glad to read the IVA does not need cancelling! That would have been heart braking!
