well i bought this piece of junk for £450, and have had to spend not much on it (a complete respray cost me <£40 and me and a friend a few hours work) Have taken the exhaust off before the first baffles so there is only a short little pipe from the back of the turbo to the floor...sounds kinda like a mix between a tractor on steroids, a skyline and a rally car Also put a dump valve on it...so she sneezes. Going to put a fuel pressure regulator on her and also a ram air feed (easy to do there's already a spot for it!!) The bubbles in the vinyl still need popping...but I'll get around to that one day. Work to do: - Fix the clutch so i can drift again - Pray that the gearbox isnt broken now alongside the clutch - Consider lowering her so she's more stable and looks better! Yes, I accidentally left some masking tape on heheThis is how she started life: And after the respray and de-badging: So that's about it for now...I'm hoping the clutch (and probably gearbox) isn't going to send me broke (although I'm fully expecting it to!!)

A list of things that have gone wrong so far: - Burst water pipe - or so i thought...It turned out to be the temperature control valve for the heater, which i subsequently bridge with a bit of plastic pipe.
- Burst water pipe - This time it was real
- Plastic joiner slipped out (so i lost all the water in my radiator for the 3rd time
- Plastic joiner burst - I've replaced it with some copper pipe again so hopefully that's the last time I have an empty radiator.
- Turbo vacuum pipe popped out of the air hose - This is the most interesting thing that's happened...It gave my car what felt like 50+ extra HP because there was effectively no limit on the boost the turbo was producing...In second gear you could accelerate at scary speeds. But this also meant that the clutch problem (which i was mostly unaware of) was made worse so in 3rd 4th and overdrive you couldnt accelerate without the clutch slipping.
- Currently I cant drive the car because the clutch has almost completely gone and it now makes grinding noises when you drive along, and spits second gear out when you decelerate!!!

For some reason, I really like that. In my own exalted opinion, it would look much harder with all the chrome brightwork removed and the towbar ditched. It inspired me to go searching on ebay for similar...

Very cool. Proof that just about anything can be made to look more than acceptable to us in the retro universe. I'm not with everyone else on the chrome though, I think it breaks up the black pretty well!!

Haha thanks guys. I quite like the chrome myself as it really stands out, and if I give it a nice polish it will really shine (plus...do you know how much work it was masking all that chrome up? there was that much of it!!) There are some really nice rides on this forum I've browsed through quite a few of them and they are cool! It really does need lowering though. And as for the towbar...I need it for when I want to reverse into things like in demolition derby (although the panels are nearly indestructible anyway)... But it's actually my work car, hence me leaving the towbar...the roofracks, and the real reason for me blacking out the back windows. What I love the most about it is how fast she is for a big fat volvo!

Good to see another brick on here... my 940 has 1 coil cut off each spring if you want to check the ride height of that! Will be for sale shortly too.. need something smaller!

Haha yeah, once you get it out sideways it just stays there...it doesnt like coming back in though...its a little long and a little heavy..
My suspension is totally shot...the back sags like a something... And it has that weirdo "Nivomat" suspension which i don't think you can just chuck normal springs and shocks in... But because it sags it looks low...even moreso with a 500L water tank in it.
I'm seriously thinking about chopping a coil of the front spring though...a friend was telling me he could get a hold of some spring clamps...very tempting! (ok I should probably think about getting her back and running first though!)

Try driving a Wentworth (with LSD) on Nankangs in the wet... ;D
These barges can be bloody good fun, then cruise up the motorway at 90 in luxo mode ;D
Have you been on turbobricks? I assume yours is a motronic car? You can get a chipped ecu to allow you to run more boost for them

oh yeah its awesome fun! I would love an LSD in it...but as it stands, I haven't really done that much in the way of performance (maybe it has a few extra HP from what I've done, but not much)... So I don't know how much it would want to slide with a LSD especially since second gear is so tall...By the time you've reached peak power you're already going too quick hehe...but when you get it right, its so much fun! Yeah I've been over to turbobricks, have in the past spent too much time reading the articles...that site has inspired me! (and made me want to spend more money I don't have) Every time I look at her I think "There is so much potential, if only I had an unlimited supply of cash"
