Ok, took the camera down the unit, so I took a few snaps. Havent really made much progress, I'm stuck getting the driveshafts out. I don't really have a clue how!     Check out the ghetto engine crane! We used it to take out Andrews 3l V6, which is why the top bar is bent! The shafts popout of the gearbox casing with brute force and leverage. Get a big flat screwdriver or slim prybar between the end of the inner cv and gearbox casing. don't lever directly against the alloy as its quite soft, but lever against the head of nearby bolts. The shafts are held internally with a circlip type of thing, so you just need to lever them till the clip pops out of its groove. Lever a bit, turn the shaft by hand a quarter turn, lever some more, turn a quarter turn, lever more and it will come out eventually.
The outr en is just splines in the hub, so assuming you have undone the hubs mountings (suspension arm balljoints), give the end of the shaft a decent whack and it should slide out. Use a rubber mallet or at least a block of wood and a normal hammer so you don't damage the shaft.

or if you would rather, just cut the CV boots off and the joint will pull out of the pot. This is good if your engine is full of oil!  |

My mate has got one of these in his field!
Its got a good engine but the body is propper Foooooked!!
He cant be bothered to crane the engine out so hes just waiting for the car to discintergrate around it so he can just drag the engine out LOL
Good luck with the project....... Loving the 80s stickers ;D

That looks very similar to my engine crane!   Except mine's a bit less sturdy... only lifts bike engines  |

Ha Ha! Yeah, ours has lifted a 3.5l V6 out of andrews Scimitar. Thats why the top bar is bent! It weighs a bloody ton!
