As allready posted in the general board I got me a third car, a Ford Fiesta MK1 built in 1978. it is a 1.1 S (yeah sport) has a revcounter (kinda slowish and behind on the revs) and a sporty interior(which is nice but I think it will get konig seats) had a leaking rad, replaced it today but it is still running hot, next checking the thermostat, if that's ok I'll replace the waterpump. enough talk now pics work in progress new radiator nice S interior the teared hose (ran hot when I picked it up and then the hose blew. new rad in place removed the front bumper, looks better without it.

fix it first and then think what to do with it..
are these known for having problems with waterpumps or head gaskets?
took off the thermostat and there was no water in the block left, so I guess the waterpump is not doing its job or is jammed. are these plastick pumps?
ideas enough, got some recaro's laying around and konig seats, lowering springs are not hard to get, rollcage would be fun to make it ourselves just for fun. so I guess it's going to be a rallye theme/type, and maybe race it sometimes since the derby is made ready for hillclimb/heuvelklim/bergrennen. maybe I then can leave the swift for just driving around and to work.
or reverse it and make up the swift for rallying, but I think it still looks to good for that, and since the fiesta is allready rusty and parts are easy to get...
off course the plans involve motorcarbs but that's obvious.

was it the 1.3 S we had wearing those stripes, the look of the car looks familiar. pretty special. nice work.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

I do like the classic lines (straight) of these Mk1's
Bit of polish and you will be a happy bunny.

exchanged the 12 inch mayhem that was originally under it for some 13 inch escort or taunus wheels.. fitted them and went for a spin they rolled the rear fenders themselves, so a bit too balloony luckily I had some 155/70 in the shed which we pulled on and now it look good.. to complete it we took of one ring at the front, still have to go for mot so after that I'll take some more off. I think the doctor is not very pleased with it... I think it is mainly because he got a load of curse word 12 inch tat in exchange for his wheels..

now, it is true then, all cars from the netherlands have tow bars ;D Just joking, but you must be a lucky man, as i have at least one set of recaro seat runners for the MK.I Fiesta.... i kept them for now almost twenty years, if you need them, they are yours....

today i took out the dash and the carpet..
I found out that the heating radiator had been leaking for a while, so it was quite mouldy underneath. took out all the sound insulation and threw it away (yeah 10kgs of weight loss)
the carpet and rear seats I left in the storage
taped back the dials and switches and left it for the night, hope to make me a slimmed down dash sometimes this week.

got me a new heater box from the wrecker, rad was mint fan was stuck, loosened it up with some lubricant and then it went free. mounted it and put the dash back together. also found a mk2 with a nice spoiler with the wreckers so took that with me too. just made a trip to the local diy, to get some flooring cement, and the fan was stuck again, damn fords!

rally box indeed, have to find some more makrolon or lexan, for no money off course...
maybe cheap zetec conversion, found a 1600 silvertop for 100 euros (about 65 quid) so maybe that's an option..

still haven't fixed the fan cos I didn't feel like doing it and I was very busy.. did recieve a new steering wheel however.. MOMO V36, allways wanted one, not specifically in these colours but I think it's cool. took it for a spin tonight and it went idling at 2000rpm after a while, so i think some coolant is leaking into the cylinders. have to change the headgasket also for APK (MOT). putting a 1600 in before that is not an option. Luckily I have a gasket set sitting in the shed, and it's not too much work I guess but still I don't feel like doing it... anyone knows the momentum of the head bolts? and other bolts that i need to undo to change the headgasket? haven't got a manual for it unfortunately.
