i bought my delta back during the christmas break in 2003. I could remember seeing them on tv back when i was a child, and you got decent coverage of the RAC on terrestrial tv. finally i had the chance to buy one.
slightly scruffy, but mechanically sound, and really quite quick, i knew i'd be keeping it a while.
it had been fairly well played with, chipped, evo front lights, bonnet and rear wing, uprated springs and dampers allong with a full set of strut and rear diff braces.
the day after i bought it,
i left it fairly well alone for a few months, just putting in a cd payer, tidying up a few odds and sods. the mesh in the bumper got painted black, the silver grille got painted satin black, and the big mudflaps got thrown in the bin!
then i spotted a set of wheels for sale which i knew would look perfect, some gloss black 8x17in compomotive MOs a classic rally wheel. i have occasionally thought about painting them black, then i look and can't help but think it looks perfect as it is ;D
oh, and i put some spoiler brackets on at the same time (as were supplied in the toolkit in the boot on evo models) to raise the spoiler to barn door drag inducing levels, often refered to as 'Full W***** Position'
i then spotted a big brake kit up for sale, just when i was faced with replacing the front disks and pads on the car, and decided to go for it.
from single piston callipers on 285mm disks i went to porsche / brembo 4pot callipers and 310x32mm rotors on custom made alloy bells. they have made a huge difference! stand on the brakes and it feels like it's trying to bury the front end into the ground ;D
i have also added smoked hella headlights, and tinted the front indicators. i had a brief flirtation with some group A style carbonfibre wingmirrors and a sumpguard lookalike front spoiler, butboth have been removed at the moment. the mirrors were useless for actually seeing anything behind you, and the carbonfibre yellowed and started looking nasty. the spoiler had to be removed so i could get the bumper off at some point, although it may be going back on but this time painted black!
the car was my daily driver for almost 3 years untill i bought my m3 (which i'll be posting about soon), and averaged around 20,000 miles a year in it! definately well used, and certainly no garage queen.
plans for the near future are to tidy up the bodywork which is starting to show it's age, and not a lot else! i have already made a start, so i'll update this thread with pics when i take some
