Firstly, am so glad to finally be a member here. I held out til I had a project to call my own, and here she is: Idea is to go down the standard classic insurance friendly fettling route for the first year and get her running nice and smoothly, then a valver engine dump next year some time. One question for everyone though, I've got a fairly soggy passenger footwell. My mate thinks it might be a leaky windscreen seal, which appears to fit as the carpet up the bulkhead is damp too, though it may just be wicking. Any ideas on the problem and how to fix it would be greatly appreciated, along with any mod and style ideas (don't worry, the fogs are getting the boot very soon ;D)

As for your footwell, it could be windscreen or heater ducts, etc,. Is your boot filling up? Mine's a disaster for leaks at the minute.....i've one in the driver's side rear window and the boot is like a swimming pool!! Check there's no leaves and curse word clogging up the drain holes in the scuttle panels at the front. Glad to hear the fogs are going - first thing i did with mine too!!! Down with fogs!!!
Have you taken a look at the Scirocco Register yet? Loads of help and ideas over there too

Yo dude, ta very much for the comments on my Scirocco. Nice to see a fellow owner in Worcestershire! Looks a nice tidy example you got your mitts on there dude, can I ask if you got it from eBay? As it looks like the Scirocco I tried (and failed) to convince the better half to purchase Feel free to ask away, although the Register website is a better bet, my mechanical knowledge is very minmal! But in essance, the carbed 1.6 engine is almost identical to the 8v GTi engine in Sciroccos and MK2 Golfs save for the exhaust/fuel injection and cam, which is why it works.

Looks very tidy mate. Have you checked the heater matrix isn't leaking? Common problem in old Dubs.
