And how it looks now. A few bits have always bugged me like the gearbox mount not properly removed etc and I needed to fill a few holes and finish panel beating a couple of sections. I also wanted to tidy up around the gear lever section of the tunnel and remove a few brackets that were no longer needed. 2/3rds of the underside is now pretty much ready for a coat of proper epoxy primer, which ill do in 2 halfs, this section while its flipped this way, then spin it over and prep the rest. At least once its in epoxy I can start bolting stuff back on to it to make it look like a car again

Well on Saturday I had the pleasure of helping a mate out with this absolute beauty, A genuine Group 2 Alpina E9 CSL And it made me realise that actually, with the Kadett, I'm really not very far away from this in terms of preparation. So I did kind of see a glimmer of mojo returning and did start to consider that Maybe 2 track cars wasnt so bad after all ? Its still up for sale at the moment but we will see if anyone comes up with the cash. Cheers for looking Dom

Swap for 300 pairs of trainers worth between £20 and £500 a pair? BMW is glorious, and I can't help but feel that the difference between the Kadett and the Caterham is big enough to keep you interested. You could always just have one ECU and swap it between cars? Unplug, plug into other car, load relevant map, win. *n

Top grammar tips! Bought = purchased. Brought = relocated Lose = misplace/opposite of win. Loose = your mum

The CSL is rather lovely, and one of a few he owns !!
ECU in the grand scheme of things is a minor issue / expense, but I have considered it.

That Alpina is stunning. There is something about trumpets in that colour that is just right.

That csl .. is that a slide throttle ? My auntie in Surrey has a csl sitting rusty in a shed in Surrey. I've got my eye on it.... That is one of our slide throttles We have effectively got all the different slide throttles and pump arrangements from all the different works teams covered now in magnesium and aluminium. Alpina, Works BMW and Schnitzer Oh and if your Auntie wants to sell that....... the market for them is going up and up Is ist a CSL or is it a CSI / CSA ? The genuine CSL is quite a bit different, with thinner steel panels, and Aluminium roof and closures, thinner glass etc

I got it wrong..Its not my Aunty..shes my cousin. Her husband actually owns it and loves his classics. He's had it for ages and I think he knows its worth. I must pop by and see them this year when we come over to the UK. Its pretty rusty so maybe I can fit it in my luggage.... yep it would a be a cool car to restore.

Mid project crisis, Needs finishing.... Its not really a crisis, ive not had the love for it for some years now, and the realisation that I really don't want to be in the same place - still looking at an unfinished project that has no current relevance to my life, in 5 years or 10 years time, has brought me to the conclusion it needs to go. I`m only still doing stuff on it to get it tidy enough to bolt it back into a rolling shell and sell. Mentally I am done with it, I need to clear a lot of stuff out of my life and an awful lot of it revolves around this car......

There was a very rusty one (As in no innerwings etc) sold recently, in inca orange, proper basket case....... £69000 wasnt long ago the chap with the Alpina was buying genuine rotten csls for £1500, nicking the aluminium parts and weighing the rest in because they were worth nothing, and a restoration would cost £25k plus to have a car worth £15k at most when finished

Well said CR500Dom . Fair play to ya half the battle is realising whats causing the prblem and being man enough to actually do something... All the best and good luck with the sale, somebody is going to end up with a excellant head start unlike most other unfinnished projects... Thank you, I`ve not really been in a good place mentally for the last year or so, and my outlook on life, and whats important has changed considerably in that time. Struggling to commit time that I don't have, to a project I don't need, that does not fit with my life and family as it is now, is not what I want to be doing anymore. I have a Rapid, fun and working "Toy" and I have 2 young kids that I want to spend time with while they want to spend it with me, that time will be over before I know it, so I want to make the most of it while I can. This car has spent more time in project form than it has on the road, and the last thing I wanted was for it to be sold as another "unfinished project" I do feel I have Failed it, but I have come to terms with that, accepted it and it is no longer relevant. I started this build in a previous life, previous relationship and in a very different place personally. It no longer has a place in my life as it is now, and it is taking up time, effort and space I don't have spare and are better used elsewhere. Sorry for the long post but I kind of needed to get it out there... Thanks for the understanding people
