I'm into my polo's and this mk1 came up for grabs so I thought it was rude not to. Most of you now me on here for the beige mk2 polo turbo that is nearing completion
Anyway, I saw this for sale on a polo forum and thought why not. The owner needed to get rid of it due to his land lady moaning on about it which is why it is so cheap.
It comes with loads of goodies including an uprated and lowered suspension kit, a GT engine and rebuilt gearbox (fitted), white seats from a scirocco, ecu with a performance chip, electronic fuel pumps and basically all the necessary gubbings to convert it to injection
Here's the import bit (for me anyway lol)
685Kg kerbside weight with a full tank of petrol!! With fibre glass panesl including front panel, wings, bonnet, boot lid, perspex windows and a stripped out interior, i'm sure that can be reduced a lot.
My aim is around 620Kg, with the engine running on CBR 600 bike carbs 100bhp is a reality so that would mean 164 bhp per ton of carb'd up fun
Here's a quick walk round video (my phone went flat half way round!)
and the dreaded rust!!
The seats which are really comfy and very supportive
What do you reckon??
I may just use this for it's parts and buy a better shell as the o/s/f turret is seperating from the inner wing, the o/s/r quarter is gone under the window both inside and out and both rear arch to sill areas have gone as well
I don't mind admitting that bodywork is beyond me, i'm more electrical/ engine minded to be honest
