PART 1!!! Broke Status style! £150 + a set of wide (8x13) steel wheels + six hours - a few coil springs = Project Swantana. Here's a taster. What do you think? (For the geeks, it's an '83 Santana GX5 two-litre, three-speed auto with PAS, electric windows all round, electric aerial, blah, blah, blah, etc.) In the beginning things were very high and bouncy…

Had a Passat with 2.2l 5cylinder motor IIRC What an awesome car that was as a 2nd car and daily for the then missus.
had a 1000watt sound system when it was seen as madness to have more that 25watt/chanel into 4 speakers.
Now hurry and bring on part 2 !!

Love in the wide steels and the big drop! Is the back going to stay in the air or eat the dirt?

Cheers chaps. It's already down but thought i'd run it in stages as didn't want to spoil all the fun! In fact, we got so carried away out back (yes, after the secret lemonade drinking, Dave), cut too much out of the springs and it sat on its belly. Basically we had to borrow some off our Mk1 Jetta (Wrong Burgundy) which fitted nicely. It's all good though. Still low-enough to warrant carrying wood in the boot for when it gets stuck Oh the joy!

Really? Can't believe how thin on the ground they are. Got offered it a year or so back but didn't have the space (you know how it is). Then it came up again a month back at a price I couldn;t refuse (£150) with just over 70k on the clock, MoT till Feb 08 and taxt ill then end of August. I had the wheels (banded early Mk2 Rocco steels) just sitting there, so after picking it up we went straight to shop and chopped the curse word out of it. Never had so much fun for such little out lay ps: the porn's not mine!!!

Very cool car, a lad at my work has got one, plus there was a a nice but un-MOT'd one on the bay a few weeks ago but the lad thought it was worth £2k in parts, needless to say it didn't sell.

You chopped the springs while they were still on the car? Interesting!
How many coils?
