Hello all! so a new thread to present my mk2 golf that someone gave me in February just the day before it has to go to the scrapyard... it was 40kms far from me, just turn the key about 3or 4 times and it has ran well! it didn't run for several months, about a year perhaps... I drove it to my home without insurance and with a lot of white smoke behind but I come to home safe! I let it some weeks on my school's garage until they get me out! then it was down of my flat on the outside carpark and one day I decided it was time for it! some pics: the first I received on my cell from a friend: after in my school's garage: then with my mum's mk5 golf(in the pic it had about 400kms, I drove it to 1400...)and my former 406: some last work previous pads-not new but GTI ones some stuff to replace...perhaps... my working place! but anyway, yesterday we come out to ride!i have almost forgotten that it was so cool to ride low!i really love that!but I had some problems with the carbs, I can't wait to ride it again, but I remove the carb to clean it... and there is 16 like this! I am just waiting for the rear brakes, then I will have to do the papers and the control, and it will be a nice car saved from hell I guess and it is just the beginning of the work!a lot of work with inside dash, but I let the interior and outside as they are caus I love the patina style!(possible that i'll paint the roof) I have to low the rear, change tires, perhaps wheels too, but it is my daily so it is not very urgent! I just want to ride it all day!!! bye! some news soon...i hope!

Great one OllyCarbs !!
I would sometimes love to have a zero cost car, and then to do a lot of mad stuff to it, to make it a showstopper (on a budget) But then I realise there are too many styles, and it all costs insurance to run.

man, she looks incredibly straight, nice score. is that a driveshaft sheared or just a CV boot?! i don't understand well what you mean, but i think you are talking about "the universal joint" (from my dictionary ;D) totally sheared CV boot?(sorry i don't have a lot of vocabulary...) so i will have a new one next month(the bank don't want to give me more money for the month, only one week to wait...) the engine supports are totally cracked, every time i decelerate, i hear it hurting the metal don't know where... a real rat i think!it will be done fastly cause i love ratty looking cars but with brand new security and engine parts at least cleaned and working well! for the rake, all people seeing the pictures say me that it is cool, but i really think it could be more cool 2or 3 cm lower...it will keep a rake style i will paint the steels in grey but not silver, a flat grey, the saem i will repaint the roof, after welding the antena hole!i don't know who could be that, for a golf the antena is on THE FENDER!!!!!!!! perhaps withe walls, if a friend of mine don't by them, or perhaps i will put on it my renault 6,5x15" steels with low profile tires...i will try some day... i plan some cool paint details for the engine bay too... i hope the main mecanical work will be done in August... today i have to clean and change joints of the carbs, i hope it will run well after cause it is my only problem on this car... bye, and thanks to all!

I don't understand well what you mean, but I think you are talking about "the universal joint" (from my dictionary ;D) totally sheared en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constant-velocity_jointThe joint at either end of the driveshaft itself CV boot?(sorry I don't have a lot of vocabulary...) www.innerauto.com/images/partImages/cv_boot2.jpgThe rubber gaiter that covers the CV Joint and holds in the grease Hope this helps, your English is very good and much better than my French!

Hello! yes, thank you lopez it really helps me! i didn't think about watching on wikipedia... so i had to change the driveshaft cause the noise coming from when i turn is very important, so i think i have to change it end not only the joint... so in french a driveshaft is a "cardan".

in french cv boot would be called "joint" i think i would call it like that. it is like a big joint protecting the driveshaft mecanism. thank you all for the vocabulary!i improve my english level since the day i discover this awesome forum!
xbo11ox, thank you for the work and if by the way you come here again, give a call and a pm! it is not common that someone abroad come there to "just" buy a car?i think it is cool!
bye, Nicolas
