I know it´s not a car but it´s definately going to be retro when it´s finished.
Last summer me and the lads we were sat around the campfire at a classic car meet (well BBQ to be honest) and after a couple of beers came up with the idea that it we needed a workshop trailer to carry all the curse word we need when we bimble around the country.
While my van was getting sprayed last winter I decided to sell our caravan
and build the trailer and paint it to match...something like my mates van & caravan.
It started life as a rotten 1962 FK van which i´d bought for spares
...after cutting the good bits off.....
...my son drove it round to the garage so that we could get stuck into it.
We then took it to bits.....
I´d origanally planned using the original Ford axel but the FK has its handbrake on the front axle and not the back, so getting a decent brake settup would have been difficult, so off we went and organised a trailer frame with axle.
...which we ended up throwing most of it away and rebuilded the frame using old pallet shelves from work.
A mate of mine was buying a wrecked Van as a spare so I sweet talked him into giving me the back half....
so that we would have enough metalwork to finish the body off
Once we had all the bits we needed it was just a matter of putting the puzzle back together
..that´s about as far as i´ve got...
...just need to weld up one corner, build the brakes, put the floor in, sand and paint it and fit the new BRM´s i´ve just ordered.
...more to follow...!
