Now that is mean as owt! What are the mechanicals? Bog stock or tweaked to the peak? Personally, I like the colour. Whether you leave it in primer or paint it is up to you but the colour is good, IMHO. Nice project! "I'm"

I still cannot fathom why they didnt put a V8 in the Capri I mean, this pic should be viewed with the rumble of a 351 or something like that:

Excellent stuff! Loving the look of it all. The wheels look ace (any chance of a full shot of the car kind of from the front wing angle?), as someone said the writing on the tyre is just gagging to be accompanied by a v8 rumble.
I like!

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

the wheels in some of the pics are the standard laser 4 spokes but atm (u can see it in the pic of just the wheel) I'm runnign weller 13x8 steels on the back with the 4 spokes still on the front! looks mean as soon as i can afford it a v8 is getting dropped straight in! just gotta decide which one!

After reading from the top I thought "red oxide prime, not good" but I was totally WRONG!!!! The red oxide looks shweet with the black bonnet, wide wellers on the back give it a real muscle car feel. IMO leave the bumpers off, capri always look better bumperless EDIT: MORE PICS PLEASE ;D

I still cannot fathom why they didnt put a V8 in the Capri I mean, this pic should be viewed with the rumble of a 351 or something like that: Just GOOGLE "Basil Green (e) Motorsport etc..... " In South Africa most Ford products got V8 motors at some time.... often just to homologate for motorsport. Capri V8 is awesome. Find one of these in South Africa, BUY IT !!!! and Import it back here. Look here.... also look for the Perana brand. images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.fordcapri.co.uk/graphics/mk1/m10027.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.fordcapri.co.uk/mk1/specials/perena.htm&h=200&w=142&sz=12&hl=en&start=3&tbnid=ejbzSGOy6EcBiM:&tbnh=104&tbnw=74&prev=/images%3Fq%3DBasil%2BGreen%2Bmotorsport.%26gbv%3D2%26svnum%3D10%26hl%3DenBetween 1970 and 1973 a Johannesbury based engineer, Basil Green, was authorised by Ford (South Africa) Product Engineering to produce a modified version of the 3000GT Capri. Green had already produced a tweaked MkII Cortina which was suplied with a V6 engine, so it was a natural pogression for him to produce a modified Capri. A 302 Mustang V8 (5 litre) was swapped for the Essex V6 and was fitted with a Motorsport camshaft, solid lifters and four-barrel Holley 460 CFM carburettor. This engine was capable of over 280 bhp, but was detuned to around 240 bhp for the production car, with ride height lowered by 50mm and the bodyshell strenghtened to take the huge torque supplied by the Mustang engine. Although the original production run was for 800 "Perena" Capris it is estimated that only 500 actually left the factory. The name Perena was a deliberate missspelling of the fish Pirana. The Perena was the only Capri officially supplied with a V8 engine, and as such was perfect for racing. The 500 or so cars produced meant that homologation was not a problem, and the Perena was raced in South Africa under the name Z181. Basil Greeen himself won the South African Championship three times, but unfortunatley the Z181 was banned from competing after 1970 as it had won all but one of the races that year ! More history: South Africans like their cars fast. Basil Green was the Springbok equivalent of Peter Brock HDT, shoehorning 5 litre V8s into cars originally designed for a 4 cylinder. Green modified the front firewall and steering to have the engine sitting back and low to assist handling and steering, and the result is a very nice, quick, great handling car. You could have auto or manual, and a choice of 5 snappy colours. 500 were built, all numbered and featuring the 'BG' prefix. Many are being imported into Australia, but I decided to build my own. My car is an original 1970 V6 in True Blue which currently sports a 250 hp 289 Windsor V8, C4 auto, XY shaker, 15" Superlite wheels and more. It was actually the first car in my collection, being purchased way back in 1997. The car had sat untouched in a shed since 1980, had been converted to V8 in the 1970s and was in rust free, rip free, time warp condition. It's the best Capri body I have ever seen. One day I'll even finish it! POSSIBLY ONE OF MY ULTIMATE WET DREAMSAlong with a GULF Racing coloured car..... The Gunston Ford Capri Perana of Basil Green...... V8 power racing !!! Yes, I am excited about it...... was a nipper the last time I saw this come very sideways through a bend,

They did make a V8 capri but it was only ever sold in austrailia, it also wasnt called the capri (i forget the name) but it was a capri body with a mustang v8 in not the rover v8 that most conversions over here feature;)

looks really smart, i like the roof and boot thing painted black. its sort of unusual but its works IMO.
i thin u need to heavily strip the interior out now tho.
