I will be changing the shocks, eventually. I haven't got any yet though, that may have to wait till next payday. I'm very aware it will ride like curse word till then. I am prepared for this though (having run my old Mk1 Golf on the original shocks), i have a nasty chintzy cushion for the drivers seat. Quick update. The lowering will have to wait a little bit, at least until i can find the rest of my tools... In the meantime I've tidied up the front valance a bit (just needs a final going over yet), bought a locking petrol cap so the local scrotes cant nick my petrol, and bought another set of alloys for it. I've started looking into a 5-speed conversion too (as sparko will know) and a Nova box is a direct swap by the sound of it, so i'll have to keep my eyes peeled for one of them after payday.

I've become a bit of a wheel fiend and bought yet another set for the astra... These are from an early Mk2 Cavalier GLS. Probably quite scarce. And are a slam-friendly(yeah, I still haven't get round to it..) et49 offset. Complete with a full set of 155/80's, sooo much sidewall! They need a bit of a refurb despite looking ace in the picture, so i'm going to give 'em a going over and paint some of the recesses black for a bit of detail. Might whack the VW alloys up for sale yet, haven't decided.

Thought i'd add some shonky pictures to update this thread on my efforts to de-value this vision of beigeness. In a moment of boredom (but with my original photoshop in mind)i attacked the poor thing with acres of fablon. Here you can just about see that i've tidied up the front valance and the o/s/r wheel arch. I'm going to paint the sill body colour as well next. Also got my Cavalier alloys on it, which eliminated the wobble i was getting with the VW wheels, and they look the shiz. And added a parcel shelf embellishment. This pretty much ruins all rear vision because it reflects on the window, which is a shame. But i like it.

Love the fablon, makes it look like some sort of US market offering just needs some monster over-riders.
