I saw this on HoodRide. Well done, Sir! Cheers saru..... I haven't been on HR in a long long time. That Forum sadly lost it's appeal to me with all the curse word going on over there. Welcome on board!! Is your Tina still stock running gear? ;D Nope. Originally started building this car about 12 years ago to go nostalgic racing here in Oz. But after I had all the running gear done I had no money left to do the extra bits required for racing.... roll cage, racing seats, harnesses etc etc. So I just used it as a daily for a few years and then it kinda just sat in my backyard wherever I lived for many many years un-used. It was originally the standard 1500, but now a bored out 1600 X-Flow. Head was ported and rods, pistons, crank and flywheel all balanced. Swapped in GT valves and pistons to increase compression as well. Bottom end was all ground and balanced. Middle of the road sorta cam was used to give extra lift and obviously higher rating valve springs. Also a heavier duty clutch went in. Never got around to putting the GT gearbox and diff in, but I reckon I still have them around someplace. GT gauges are in as well to keep an eye on things. Oh also gone back to the single down draught weber cos it was costing too much to run with triples on it. I'm not too fussed about going quick anymore, so it's plenty good enough for a bit of a cruise.

I must say that is one really nice looking cortina- maybe when I iron out the tune on my Datsun we could go for a cruise or something??- I have a mate with a 60s Corona which is about the same size as your cortina and I'm sure I could find a few others round the place too.

How do you stop the roof rusting more? Ehehehe...... yeh I haven't really done anything about that yet. A lot of guys just do a clear coat over the top so as to stop air getting to the area and hence stop further degradation. At this stage I have done nothing, so I will soon have an odd shaped moon roof. ;D

Yeh that sounds good. Would love to see the Datto in the flesh. At the moment I have nothing registered. Over winter I tend to take my cars off the road, but as soon as the warmer weather comes back..... or at least the rain goes away....... I'll get it sorted. Forum member vw67and55 and I sorta started a gathering of these sorta vehicles and organised regular cruises. We've stopped this over winter, but will probably organise something again in early Sept. Would be great to have you and your Corona buddy along. I assume it's a shovel nose. Love those things.

good ta see you over here, soem of your vdubbin friends had shown me a pic of your 'tina, sweet ride, always assumed you must have been a melburgian Cheer's for that. Nah, Adelaide boy, born and bred, but sometimes I wish I was over there where there is more of a scene. Very little of this style happening in Adelaide. In fact, I can count 'em on a couple of fingers. new project wouldnt happen to be that blue toyoda ute in the background would it? Hehe..... yeh it is. Barn find Toyota Stout......... sitting on a country property static for almost 10 years. Will start a post for it when I have a little more happiness to report. ;D Great intro !!! Great car and accessories. And.... Love the venues you have photgraphed her at as well. Now show us the Toyota Stout (Thats what they were known as in South Africa) Truly hard as nails pickups. Oh, and welcome to the board. Thanks for the positive comments. Yep, they are Toyota Stout's here in Oz as well. In fact mine is a Lite-Stout. It is definately hard as nails, but certainly no rocket ship. She's going to stay nice and original too, so I hope I never have someone in a hurry behind me. Will do a post on the Stout in the next couple of weeks I'd say.
