The car's awesome, Slater has a great eye for what 'works' and has yet to build something bad.
And as for whoever it was ranting about how his 3-series with a bolt-in engine swap is 'proper engineering', did you miss the strut tops et cetera in this thread?

This talk about lack of power reminds me of when i was thinking of buying a local 504 caravan (with fold down seats in the trunk and all, and its brown!) and shove a 1jzgtte in it. Mucho inspired but the slatermobile, and THAT toyota wagon with air and the same engine... Any engine plans for the ride slater? You`ve prolly written it another place, but i`m feeling lazy

Yeh its going to be quiter when i get a back box on it hopefully! i passed 3 cop cars this morning and didnt get pulled once ;D did scrape the wheels a bit tho but not badly.
Engine wise, i don't like the K-jet or L-jet or whatever it is so i might change that but need to get it looking right first.

RR in 'Ruined By N00bs' shocker. I don't think anyone on here is brown-nosing Slater for no reason - he is rightfully respected for building high-quality cars in hardly any time at all. I think he's properly dedicated and that shows with the awesome stuff he comes up with. I've never met the guy but I've often gushed to people about the quality and speed of his work. Maybe some people are just jealous of the respect he's earned.

hero! cant wait to see it 'post MOT' when things can aire on the side of illegality ;D
as for the 'driftboys' anyone can bodge a few RWD shitheaps and throw the backend out, unless proved otherwise, youve not built anything up to the levels of skill that the lads done.
if your not about 'show' then WTF is drifting all about?! its marked with scorecards like strictly come dancing FFS ;D ;D

This is all a bit of a shame. I'm on a few VW forums and they are all populated to varying degrees by jealous morons. I don't post much on here because my car is nothing to scream about compared to the metal on here, but i love seeing all the build threads develop, i'm in awe of most of the build threads on here, i just look at the pretty pictures! Let's face it, we are all a kindof "odd cases" on this forum, we wouldn't be here if we were all "normal" and conformed to a Cookie Cutter lifestyle. Think of the money you have spent on your car/s and then think about the Mondeo that this amount of money would have won you! (no offence to Mondeo owners!) We have to accept we all oddness delivered in different ways. by all means say "not to my taste" but for goodness sakes, leave the repetitive rubbish out of threads like this. You voice your opinions and move on! The Irony is that by constantly re-stating what you've already said is a desperate scream for attention.... Peace out.

The car looks totally mad and it is a great bit of work. What is important to remember, and easy to see by clicking back to the early pages, is the amount of restoration that was carried out before any modifications could even be started. After that it can be clearly seen that a lot of custom fabrication was required in order to get things to fit and work. That type of work alone is worthy of merit in my opinion, so credit is due to Slater for all the hard work and dedication to the project.

I'll be happy to buy your car cheap after you stuff it into a barrier. And I'm quite happy with what I've built... And as for being marked with score cards. Tell it to the freestyle motoX guys, the BMXers, the stunt riders and other such activities that you will probably appreciate? Hell, I don't even think dancing is anything to be ashamed of - I bet it gets all the girls! Can't believe people are still crying about this. Move on like you say?

It's fine to not like Slater's car, but I'm not sure why anyone thinks that he's not allowed to or that it's their job to tell him his car isn't any good. Slater has taken a massively under-rated, unloved and unknown performance car and applied some parts of a look that others talk about but almost never actually build. As ever, he's put his money, time and skills where his mouth is. I've not seen any claims from him that it's better than anyone else's car, that it's worth a million pounds, that it's the fastest car ever or that it's anything other than an exercise in having fun and building a car that will turn heads and get attention. I'm no Slater worshipper, but in the time he's been on here he's built a really neat Fiesta, a full-on feature-worthy Mini, a Metro that fitted the RR ethos brilliantly (and got a lot of positive attention) and now this Peugeot which is cropping up all over the internet in exactly the way it was intended to. I don't think that building a car that provokes opinion should mean you have to take abuse.
Not all cars have to prove themselves on every level (unless of course they are proclaiming to), they don't have to go fast, look cool, carry a dog, go over speedramps, drift, drive 600 miles on a full tank, do 50mpg etc. A car should do what you want it to and as far as I can see Slater's Pug does just that - and it does it very well indeed.

A lot of work has gone into that 505 and Slater is to be congratulated on it. It is not to my taste, not at all actually. But, that is my personal opinion and in no way takes away the credit due. mjg or whatever you call yourself, you say you are not uneducated. This I find hard to believe as your spelling, grammar and punctuation are hardly at a level to be proud of.
Some people on this forum are less academically skilled than others which often shows in their posts but, they more than make up for it in their skills and enthusiasm for their cars and for our cars.
If something is not to your taste by all means say so, no-one's going to argue about that. Just be polite and keep the abuse to yourself.
