I think you've got Mr Slater all wrong. The reason people 'lick his ' is because he knows what he wants to achieve, knows how to go about it, puts his plan into action and in a way that everyone on here can marvel at. He's a skilled chap with the time, money, space and equipment to do exactly what he wants, which is something a lot of us can only dream of. I've met him at a few shows and all he does is wander round taking photos and getting inspiration for his next project. He hasnt once said you don't know what you're talking about, but that fact is that he DOES know what he's talking about! See any of his previous threads and you'll realise that.

sorry oldschool i think you might have just cought me at a bad moment there! no offence intended but tension is running a bit high on the forum today! Ive got people poking me with snide comments from all angles!
Its not attualy relly forsale yet. Thats just the price that might tempt me into selling it early! I don't relly expect it to make quite that much but its not a stupidly un-realistic figure of what the final asking price will be probably..

Thats cool. Ive kinda noticed things being "straveller" recently but thats forums for ya i guess. I do have a question about the 505 though. Whats the deal with the wheels sticking out of the arches and the legal side of things. I thought they they had to be in line with the body or something like that? If thats nothe case then my wheel guys getting a slap for persuading me to get the wheels i got

Not my thing but good on you Slater for getting it done and roilling. I feel it needs a bit more extravagance in other areas to go with the wheels & arches if you know what I mean? I know you've said you've got plans for the exhaust...
I'll rue the day that all modified cars have to be fast!

Yeh its the tread of the tyre that matters, so if you have alot of stretch you can fit wider wheels

Looks curse word. Metro is curse word as it's a metro but it's slammed with decent wheels so fair enough, but the 505 is just a curse word 505 with rediculous arches that CHILDREN WOULD LAUGH AT. Any car that kids laugh at is pretty bad in my books. In the end if someone laughs at it then that is fine, that is their choice I think that given his work and this cars looks I like it, something I would not build myself, but I see this and the work and the time gone into it, and i see the overall look and I like it, i would not mind this parked in my drive Again this is personal choice, if someone decides to fit huge arches to his Austin Metro paint it pink and put a huge dildo on the roof call him self Frederick Bongo and drive it at 2mph through town firing rockets from his , who are you to say its wrong you may not like it but ever heard the nothing nice to see say nothing? Well unless you have something to give thats constructive then shaddap. I think this car would not look out of place in a movie with some demon from hell driving it, that stance is brilliant, grow up and come back when you have understood personal taste and manners. [qupte]The race cars them wheels were built for would be embarassed to have them put on a curse word slow anime french car.[/quote] Got something better please do post your project up, and this is creative art, don't like it then click the X in the top right.

Yeh, theres some more subtle extravigance coming, well its in my head anyway! I didnt relly build the thing so people would like it tbh, theres alot of reasons why ive been heading in this direction but a big factor is that we have been seeing photos of big barges with wide wheels and bolt on arches for years now and loads of people have been saying how awsome they think they look (including me) but no one has attulay bothered to do one themself, which I find a bit stange!! This is just an oppertunity to throw the 'sensiblity' rule book out of the window and build stuff that is MAD!. I mean, it is a bit sad that the car has kind of been made 'useless' by what I'm doing, these things have soo much potential. They are RWD, look cool, come with LSD's as standard, easily lightened, comftable, well specced but yet how many do you see being made into somthing usable? not many! everyone is too pre-occupied with Fords and Vws and J stuff to care. So is it relly a big deal what ive done? I don't think it relly is! Remeber this thing was well rotton when I started and has big crash damge down one side and I doubt if I hadnt have done something with it that it would have been on the road in 2008.?

Blimey, whats with all the attitude? Spilt your christmas cocoa?
IMO the 505 is bonkers, and quite cool, and its nice to see something completed (or on the road anyway)
Its not to my taste as something i would drive, but thats not the point. I do find cars where the wheels grind out a bit of a silly compromise though.

lol i wonder if a proper sarcasm smiley was invented it would prevent forum fights. Either way i know my opinion and i love the car and the idea, original yet pays homage to the old touring/race cars. I'd probably whack some bumpers on it of some description but with the amount of work and effort thats gone into the car you gotta respect it either way

As ever, car values are subjective, price is always dependent on popularity and perceived quality's far over and above any actual benefits. look at split-screen campers and RWD escorts over any number of contemporary alternatives, because there is more of a "scene" it is easier to apply an estimate based on other cars of a similar spec, even though when compared to a rarer and sometimes better alternative from another marque they can seem overpriced to the outsider. So given that thinking, when there is an unusual, well modified car that doesn't have a huge following how do you compare prices? If you're the seller you start high and possibly drop down untill it meets it's true "value" I have no idea what my Sapporo is worth but when it comes time to sell I hope the fact that I've been pimping it around the net a bit will have helped raise it's profile a smidge, likewise Slaters metro has opened a few peoples eyes to the potential of tunning metros and "may" have made a differance to it's value, if not then I'm sure the price will drop accordingly By comparison £2200 for the metro is entirely sensible IMO Car crash!!

Looks curse word. Metro is curse word as it's a metro but it's slammed with decent wheels so fair enough, but the 505 is just a curse word 505 with rediculous arches that CHILDREN WOULD LAUGH AT. Any car that kids laugh at is pretty bad in my books. What the hell's wrong with some 9j's that poke out the standard rolled arches an inch or so? Why the hell would you want manga-spec arches rivetted on? Is it because a small Japanese man does it to rebel against the general oppression of his country? So you must do it too? And as for "built by satan to kill god" you must be joking, it looks like something out of a kid's cartoon, not an evil twisted monster. The race cars them wheels were built for would be embarassed to have them put on a curse word slow anime french car. Whats the matter sweetheart, not getting any lately? dash off with the attitude. Oh, and 2200, dang, thats cheap! But then, i`m used to norwegian car prices

I think the fact that it winds up people like you guys so well makes it priceless Slater, that is my attitude 100%! I love to own cars that get peoples backs up, that's why I have beige old man cars with lacy/beaded seat covers and stuff. The more it annoys and confuses people, the better. Doesn't really have much impact on here as we tend to like stuff like that, but it seems to cause unbelievable levels of fury amongst "ordinary people" and that just amuses the hell out of me. Your car is about as subtle as a Global Hypercolor T-shirt at a funeral and that's why I like it!

I realy carnt be arsed when people slag other peoples motor's WTF is the point ? if we all did the same it be wibblepoo and pointless havin the forum ! make a change for me joining this 1 it's not all just cortina's like the others I'm memberd on, some car's on here aint my thing, some i want or have had in the past , if i don't like it i wount comment (not that i don't like it if ive not commented !) and if it makeing its owner happy then that's what it's about and good enough for me . live and let live ! Ayyy, Nuff said

I really like the 505. Having the idea is the good part.
As others have said, having the time, kit and space to do such projects would be fantastic. If only.... (are you a mechanic/bodywork repairer by trade?)
Is there a link to the Metro anywhere? What's the spec?

It's not original though, it is just a rip off of the (mostly) curse word Japanese Bosozoku cars. And the 505 might have potential but by doing what you've done to it, you have tapped in to none of it.
I came across aggressive, normally I'm more subtle, but with the amount of people just bumming the dude it just got me annoyed with the world lol.
I am no "monkey" either, as in I am hardly an uneducated nobody, I like wide wheels, slammed cars, and retro stuff, but not old curse word retro cars with rediculous wheel fitment and no "go" to them. Having wide wheels and no power, is like having big bonnet scoops and bumper ducts with no engine to call for it. It is, therefore, completely chavvy and thus really ghey.
