So...i'll be collecting this sometime this week after a tip off from a friend last weekend that the owner was taking it for scrap......i knew the car years ago and it's followed me down to Lancaster.....100 miles away from where we're both from....i felt obliged to buy it......HOPEFULLY i'll be able to save her, but i'll be able to tell more when i get her home cheeky sod wouldn't take a hit on £150, even though he was only offered £100 from the scrappy....but i told him it was against the law to pay full asking price for stuff where i come from...so he knocked a tenner off ;D so.....she needs both sills, the insides are 'loose' and not very nice at all, there is a bit round the sunroof, and down the 'a' pillars and scuttle, which worries me, but i'm sure it's fixable...somehow.......and the o/s rear quarter is curse word, i'm not surprised because when my friend owned it, the car ran down his steep drive into a stone wall across the road........however, she does sport an excellent boot floor and rear panel...and the doors and tailgate ain't too bad either.........oh...theres the leather......venoms....and the sebring 'tattie scopper' as we used to call them.......i think ultimately she's worth more in bits, but i'll try my best to keep her alive i'll keep you informed of progress....and get some better pics up too........mobiles aren't the best

Urgh venoms.
I spent two years in Lancaster before I decided to go elsewhere for my degree, where is this in Lancaster? It's a fairly small city and I'd remember seeing something as interesting as this around.
Best of luck with it, vendor sounds a bit of a cumbucket by the sounds of things.

car is located in Hala.......you can see the motorway from the road. to be honest...the guy is ok.....he works at the power station with my mate Matt, pictured on left, vendor on right, and he's a bit gutted she's going really....he's had her since '99, and i was told £150 beforehand....but thought a ton would suffice, it usually does, just not this time ;D.....still mighty cheap tho........even with venoms

Loads of panels available from Hadrian Panels so you should be able to get it fixed - the website doesn't list all the parts for both sides, but both sides are available - just got a few bits for my Jetta.
Good luck with it.

Good luck with it. i've had a look on hadrian........mot stuff i need is there, but i'm worried about the rust around the screen and the 'a' pillars.........i hope it's not terminal, but i'm sure it'll be saveable somehow my ideas are to either keep it totally original.....with the original interior being found....or strip it out and make it a weekend weapon............not too sure yet either way.......the interior is going to fund some of it.....

Have you got pics of the rust? There are scuttle repair panels available. I scrapped one of my Jettas as it has rusted in the A pillars due to the sunroof

I put a screwdriver straight through the A pillar next to the gutter and it had been rusting from the inside out due to the sunroof drain tubes being blocked and was foobarred. If its just next to the windscreen it will be fixable - a MK1 Golf GTI is nearly always economically repairable, but a Jetta isnt
