I sold my winter runabout Jetta in April so I had an empty space on my drive. That lasted for a whole 7 days before this arrived... A pretty curse word looking Polo. Still, it was MOT'd till christmas and taxed for about 6 weeks and it was VERY cheap as it was advertised on ebay as a non runner. It was only the alternator, and I fixed it with a spare regulator. It even has a CD player! After a clean it still looked curse word so I decided to change it a bit... 10 aerosol cans of Matt black from the motor factors I used to work in and voila! Total cost of respray = £24 After that, there was a bit too much black on the car, so one £4 roll of fablon later and a few choice stickers is where we have got to so far... Future plans are to paint the wheels, and to fit my lowered front springs. Let me know what you think. I have really enjoyed messing around with this car, I have wanted a matt black car for ages and this was the ideal candidate. I love the responses I get from people too, some people love it, some hate it, most just look confused!

loving the squareback. I've just acquired a coupe which is needing a bit of paint and I was thinking along similar lines !! What did you do to treat the rust before painting ? Also, what stages did you do to paint it ? a panel at a time ? yours looks good dude !

cheers for the comments guys. I attacked the rust with a wire wheel on my grinder and treated it with some rust killer stuff (It doesnt work very well, but it was a token effort!) A skim of filler over the worst pitted bits on the door, then primed and painted over. I did the whole car at once, out on my driveway! The paint finish is a bit patchy in places, the roof was the worst but you cant see that now! Next time I will spray the car indoors, probably one panel at a time. Its being done on a very tight budget so I can justify slamming it all round But i bought some front lowered springs off ebay for 20 quid!

cool. Work will commence on mine next week which will involve getting rid of surface rust and spraying for the first time. Did you take the trim off to paint it or did you just mask around it ? I can't decide what to do with mine !

Thanks for the comments everyone, I havent decided what colour to do the wheels yet. Black would be easiest, but white or cream could work... I did think of black with a white or silver rim, or red! ;D
