Looks nice with the steels, just needs some 175/50's and a whack with the stick Nice work on the quater too, its no fun doing all that rubbing down and filling out in the street.

Thanks It had a light tapping of the stick when it went Monroe/GMAX, some coil engineering on the front is whats required next. regarding the tyres, yeah some 'Old Skool Ford'/"Saaaf Lahndan" look spec rubber would be nice, however one point was that I wanted tyres on a budget, I'm looking at forking out just somewhere near ÂŁ50 and a bunch of effort and road trips for the 4 New tyres. Aaaand, the Gmax springs are a bit harsh, so the 70 profiles inject some comfort, and look hard as nails with it being a van actually suits the dents (which will be going when new doors go on). Plus I really would have to kick it with the stick with a bigger gap! BTW, performance junkies will be proud that I actually PM'd PatrickScars about the XR2I engine and box, which would complete the package, it is 230miles away though, a 500mile round trip for an old fiesta shell is above and beyond the call of duty really! Performance junkies will however be happy like me to find out that 'Projects Reunited' Sierra has begun meaning the wee van is facing its final stages of pimping till mid summer due to the up coming MOT. Today, with slight real life stance correction illusion.

Alright so where were we, fresh paint, and new steelies? Gonna add photies as I find em... ordered these for sierra but despite being NOS, the plastic had got brittle and broke, so glued em together and stuck em int van, bear in mind though after enjoying surround sound,, one year on they have been smashed off with Cargo! back to two odd speakers for a while Super modern CD player minor stuff, but new mirror, now with added blind spot mirror It got us to Wheels day and back, wasn't happy though can't remember exactly why now. used it to help move house, got stopped by cop ;D said it looked low and wanted to take me to weigh bridge!! got a fix for this coming up... Van look was catching this summer ;D GF passed her driving test with a few proper lessons, rest were in the van! GF took on insurance for the year. Oh also after a costy MOT in Feb ( not far off net one ) the clutch fugged up the gear shifts, so we paid speedy clutch for that as we CBA to do it ourselves! took em just a few hours with me wondering about in some northern town! MOT wasn't all bad, it resulted in a major overhaul of pipes and cable by my mechanic and a bit of welding iirc. brakes are perfect after, as I found out emergency braking for a cop car at junction mid chase! Big bad problem with this was some 4 wheel steering. a pig on motorway, quite random at times, nearly caught GF out a few times, as she over corrected it, scary. Time to take action: A test look and measure session Then Exhaust went in the middle (already replaced front section) Crazy weld session at Ecclesgate with man Twigz made a right rolloks of it but it was 'better' ;D I really didn't want to buy another crappy effort exhaust. no way they are horrid efforts! I scored a mongoose cheap off some chav lad on eghey

By this time Retro Rides Gathering was in sight! so some quick-smart maintenance was required! Couple days off work and I had it in bits! BOGOF projects Urrgh! Tried the old fire technique, but prodding about with a big long green screwdriver and stuff was quicker and less scary! Quick shine and we're good to go. Exhaust was dropped same time as the axle I chopped it down, shimmed it up, and inserted a piece of sierra 2.0 pipe inside so we get us a factory style join. Also helped stabilise the flexi bit. I was still rolling around on the floor in the dark re adjusting it to get it right but long story short...

Thanks Ash, just a little bit more to come part 3 of the update (if this appears non page 11 PTO to 10) Not all rosy though, the steering link had got stiff, an I needed to fit the one good man Coggers sent me. I was now back home so went to do this at Ecclesgate while Dugong got on with changing the Piazza's oil, and stuff I needed to readjust the exhaust again! I was struggling to get on teh drive up ramps as they pinged away, I got aggressive and hurt the poor soldier. Fitted it in the dark, silky steering again Friday of RRG a few last minute adjustments to make back at Ecclesgate! Stance improved! Still a bit of reverse rake going on. specially under a bit of load... Thats much better stance but don't look at that rough door! We lost the short lived unit at Eccles due to dorkheads in charge. only ever really used outside. GF and I have a painted 'new' door we sorted ready to cut the old one off. the door travelled with us over the Pennines but never got chance to fit. it was locked in the unit for a few months so we never fitted it- yet. never say never! Been busy with other stuff since. MOT is a month away. eek! expecting a rust fail, so looking at pro welding. needing TLC too again. and lots to do on the others. I have plans though. if it can keep us going this year there's gonna be a major new look. I have fallen for this one. Its staying. Thanks for watching

Did I miss it, how did you get out of going to the weigh bridge? Sorry, I didn't explain. I was not far from (new) home it was like 2am so he let me go on, no weighbridge in the end. I kept quiet, meaning he was right. I doubt he was, being last trip it was all bulky and lighter stuff, but i defo didn't want anyone scrutinising it, specially at 2am after a loooong tiring day and night. Mark V8 staying where it is. ;D Not saying its not possible though

Just drop a couple of turbos on the 1.1. Wicked and bad. You've come a long way good sir. Before: After: What's happened to the roof rack? What's the craic with the doors - do you have replacements? Get on it dude!

Thanks Mark If it was my only project it'd be a tad different. earlier on in this thread I got some doors off Vicsmiths old scrap car they needed cutting off, took ages to drill the pin out, we painted it but no where to cut my doors off without risk of being stranded! Was gonna do it at Eccles but we got chucked out Got two roof racks, they have been used a lot recently. on was a midnight trip to Conwy with two Amazon bonnets on the top! ;D Got Sierra to do complete before but... Long term I'm looking at a Zetec SE 1.4 if its any good? and full proper of the road tidy up with a new look with posher wheels... The 1.1 xflow is lively though and it is fun to drive believe it or not, I did wonder what could be done to tune it.

Zetec SE is, AFAIK, an excellent engine. But, unlike previous generations of Ford engines, it won't bolt onto on old gearbox - it has a different bellhousing pattern. The Zeta (Zetec from early Escort/Mondeo) will, but nothing after that.
Not to say that it can;t be done, but it's a lot more work.
