😎ROAD TRIP!! I set of this morning from Walton on Thames heading to Birmingham to scratch an itch that I've had for a while now.the Tiki-Mobile was running great,It's relationship with speed humps not so much.I knocked the exhaust off while leaving Oxford services on the M40. After 15 mins on the shoulder and a new u-clamp I was back on the road. I made it to Birmingham in plenty of time to complete my trip and the car performed equally well on the return journey.I covered 260+ miles and even enjoyed some cheeky outside lane stomping too.I'm still smiling now! 😁Happy days

It's official, the Tiki-mobile now has a friend.the Tiki-cycle was built at Mutt motorcycles in Birmingham to my specification and in the 2 weeks since it arrived I've had a great time riding it.😁

So,today I switched out the old air filter and solex setup for for Honda 750 inline carbs.the throttle body is custom to fit and we modified the exhaust manifold to match up.everything fitted together and at idle it purs like a tiger, under throttle it floods feul out the filter sponge, the engine surges and sputters out. Is the mechanical pump causing it to surge and flood, will and electric pump fix it? We tried a feul regulator, has'nt helped. 🤔 Any pointers gratefully received.

Throttle body ! do you mean inlet manifold ?
Could well be the pump is overwhelming the carbs. What age bike are the carbs from - did that bike have an electric pump or was it gravity fed? Are the carbs at the same angle that they sat on the bike at? Have all the needle valves in the carbs been checked - float bowl heights etc. etc.?

As the Imp can often gravity feed due to the tank location, for a test, why not try bypassing the pump and see what happens. You will probably need an electric pump with a very good quality filter regulator to get the delivery pressure down to something less than 1 PSI. Although I would have thought that a good filter reg would be able to do that with the mech pump. Did the carbs get rebuilt with new float needle valve assemblies?

Is it worth setting up a temp fuel tank above the carbs to gravity feed them to prove/disprove if the pump is the issue?

Yes,fully rebuilt and tested before going on my car.

Check your float heights and bypass the pump. If the filter is flooding the carb floats are 'shutting' the float valve and backing up the system. I'd suggest the pump is over supplying.

thank you for all the input,we finally gave up on the carbs having tried everything above.
knowing that it can be done and has been done before made it doubly frustrating that we could'nt stop it flooding out,for now I've shelved the idea while I look at other options.

I picked up some banded steels so that my current wheels can be refurbished, they needed a freshening up too before fitting and it has lead to a bit of a style change....🤔😁 The wheels when they arrived. The car before....
