Hi This is my first post Hers my Hillman Imp, well technically its a Singer Chamois, but you'd never tell. I'm 18 and have been driving for 1.5 years now. Had the Imp just over 6 months and loving every second of it ;D Engine: std 875cc Janspeed exhaust Twin 1.5" Su Carbs Sport Cam Ford EDIS/megajolt ignition Electric fuel pump Front radiator Should be producing a woping 50bhp or so! Suspension: Lower alot on cut down springs (professional job) Spax adjustible dampers Fiesta front discs 13" Alleycat wheels with 185/55/13 tyres Interior: Fibreglass bucket seats No sound deadening whatsoever Nice steering wheel Rev counter and shift light Battery behind passenger seat Half way through sanding interior shell and spraying silver. Here are some pictures I took today. I love it to bits, but have lots of plans ;D Thanks Chris

Future plans are:
Fibreglass bonnet, boot and doors, polycarbonate windows, electric water pump, some head work, sort out some dodgy paint work, refurb the wheels with black centres plus some other stuff.
I'd love to put a 998cc/turbo engine in, but insurance won't let me :-(

About time your got yourself on here fella thats a nice imp, don't like the holes in the bonnet tho, serves no purpose/looks a bit chavvy They are in fact completely necessary! Chris' car has a front rad, so needs somewhere for the air to get out. I'm not a fan either (and I don't think Chris is!) tbh but ssssh

Glad you made it here, GeForce Junky! Your car is looking ace. The bonnet vents look quite good to me. They are not necessary, though! Lots of Imps running front radiators - including mine - make do with holes cut in the front compartment floor. Mine also has holes in the front inner wings too. I have heard that just removing the rubber seal for the bonnet allows enough ventilation for a front radiator! Not sure about that, though... What a great Imp yours is, though. So individual! I love it! "I'm"

The vents were cut by the previous owner. I am going to fit a fibreglass bonnet in the near future, so the vents will be changed, possibly to some escort turbo style ones. I will take some engine bay shots but its nothing special ... just a mess at the moment I will also photo my interior when I have finished spraying it, as at teh moment it is looking a bit unloved!

But I thought the spare wheel well/front floor was fairly important structurally for the front end? IIRC Chris bought this car just after I bought mine- we were certainly very close together..... his has done a lot more miles and worked a lot more than mine though

Hi there, car looks ace! Can I just ask where you got your insurance from? As I'm 18 and have been looking at things like imps etc, but most cars don't want to insure younger drivers on classics :S. N gotta say it again, but lovely car!

Can I just ask where you got your insurance from? As I'm 18 and have been looking at things like imps etc, but most cars don't want to insure younger drivers on classics :S I'm 18, with an imp, male and in an LS6 postcode (bad apparently!) and mine is £425. Footman James are the place to go IMO. They do a Rootes group scheme if you're in the Imp Owners Club which is wildly cheaper than everywhere else I asked They also do a young classic drivers policy as well

I'm insured with Footman James, with a Imp Club discount on a young drivers policy. They are raping me for £800 a year but its not tooo bad for a 18 year old on own policy with a modified car Can't say I know what walleyed means!!! Frank - Yes the sparewheel bit is structural in that it stiffens up the front end, so most people reinforce this area ... apparently

WELCOME with ya badass imp ride, it looks "IMPressive" hehe :OP sorry i love crappy jokes! thats a nice bit of kit, i'm an imp fan but not owned one, a mate of years back had one in the same colour but on revolutions, you could mesh the vents and pant them the same red to blend in a bit! a nice imp front valance spoiler would be cool! good rims, good stance, nice car, love it!

The floor in the area of the spare wheel well is structural. But you can cut holes in it, as long as you don't cut too many. Mine has holes cut into the inner wings too. "I'm"

looks sweet as, i agree though if you can minimise the scoops or put them out through the guards/front floor it would be even sweeter. a little bit of crossbracing would more then comphensate for a couple of small holes and make the sweet ride a whole lot cleaner
