Right, best get a project thread going now I've registered. A couple of months a mate was sending me random ebay links on MSN when I spotted a cleanish Supra 3.0 Turbo. The thing that got my attention was the long MOT and the fact that it was a manual. Went to see the car, liked it, bought it. Solid enough, drove well, scabby arches and a dodgy door. So, with the sale sorted I was barelling up the M1 in it when I overheated it badly and did the head gasket. Oh well, **** happens. So I towed it home and got (slowly) to work. Engine was initially a little daunting to look at So I got out the tools and just started removing bits with the aid of the Toyota Supra Technical Manual Until I was left with this. Tonight I finally got round to undoing the head bolts so I could do this: More to come!

I have an invoice from 1996 for it's last head gasket change. £770 inc VAT with what looks like a "mates rates" discount at the bottom.
Sod that!

Nice to see this, I love these MA70s and I'd not settle for anything less than a turbo manual either! Unfortunately most I see are ropey non-turbo autos.
Keep us updated!

Head needs to go in for checking next week so in the meantime let's sort out the gash interior. Original doorcards. Lovely, if you like disgusting blue Japanese interiors. So firstly I stripped them down and sprayed with black vinyl paint Then dyed the bottom carpet sections black Take the leather insert and unpick the staples Re-cover with Dunelms finest grey leatherette, et viola It isn't perfect but it's not shocking either. 4 More panels to do!

As soon as it's running I'll put it on tarmac (can't jack her up on gravel) and remove the springs so I can chop 2 coils off each. I want it on it's ass - I couldn't care less about the handling on this car which is unusual for me, I just wanna be rollin' deep Dash... 5 minutes... hahahaha I will be leaving that for a day when I've been meditating

Rear door cards today. True Blue. Reskin the "kidney pads" Back in black Ta Da! Have to say I'm really pleased so far with the interior. Yes, I know I'll still have a minging blue dashboard but I can cope with that
