Never heard of one, yet alone seen one. Very nice find indeed, It rocks!
The rear suspension isnt panhard rod? Its more like a twisting frame (or whatever they're called) similar to what was fitted to maestros and montegos.
£200 seems a good price if its in reasonable condition and stands a good chance of seeing the road again. To the average bloke in the street, and with a bit of luck the owner as well its an old car with no MOT or tax with a nominal scrap value.

I'd snap that up mate, even if it needs a bit of work for the mot, it'll still command a much higher price when done, should you want to sell it on. Plus it looks the tits.

;D Thanks Darren, For those that do not know, this is my other R-R. 1981 Mercedes Benz 200. One fastidious owner, maintained regardless of cost since new. Thanks Dad ;D Stays garaged in my brothers military camp. Insured for about £7.00/month. I use it when I go to South Africa. So no rental cars anymore.

That Audi is gorgeous and I'm not sure I've ever seen one* either. £200 has to be good value - well, to us anoraks anyway!
* I remember seeing the rear as a child but those could all have been Passats. Many, many years ago so I was probably too young to go and have a look at the front of which I have no recollection at all!

Now I need to rent/loan/lend beg borrow or steal a trailer or a towing "Dolly" or even a flat bed recovery to drag it back 115 miles from the deep South.
Any leads? I am in Rochester, Kent. Had a £200.00 quote on the phone today for recovery, too much I think.

Top work Grizz! Looks worthy of a bit of time and effort I think. I'll PM you Datman's number, he's often out and about with a trailer and this might make use of a journey for him.

I've used a feller off eBay called 'preeciceautos' a couple of times, he's very good and not expensive (about a quid a mile one way).

I've used a feller off eBay called 'preeciceautos' a couple of times, he's very good and not expensive (about a quid a mile one way). Sounds good to me, as I said I got a £200 quote and the trip one way is 115miles from here..... guess the link distance had to be added, but there has to be a cheaper way. If you have ore details I would appreciate it. SL, thanks for the PM, just saw your response. Will contact him in daylight time.

Congratulations... ;D This is, as I said earlier a rare car. In the USA is was sold with bigger bumpers under the name Audi Fox... But it also was sold as Volkswagen Dasher... (facelift verson here) Your car is a strange combination of the Typ 82 Facelift Audi 80 (europeen versjon) and... Passat typ 32... The Passat/Fox/Dasher (typ 32) was produced in Brasil until the mideighties... Here is a 1986 modell... So, I USA this car was sold both as coupe/sedan and stationwagon under the names VW Dasher and Audi Fox Confused? Well, here in Europe the Passat came in these versions: - 3 door with small hatch (coupe as my Passat) - 3 door with big hatch - 5 door with big hatch - 5 door Stationwagon And Audi 80 came in to versions: - 2 door sedan - 4 door sedan All these cars are the same in the front and back to the frontdoor (well mostly) The Audi 80 has mcPearson suspensions both front and back, but the Passat only have mcPearson in front and seperate springs and shockabsorbers in the back... So, this was a little historylesson about these cars... If anyone wonder about anything else, just ask...

congratulations ! It is a bargain, and pretty rare. Though it is similar to the US version, the UK version has unique bumpers.... so if you need any advice or parts you can't get in the UK, let me know, i have some passat connections ;D the mechanical parts on the car are bullet-proof, no need to worry, but check the front suspension struts carefully, as on these models the link for the steering box at the strut just badly rust and breake.... and the body of course likes to rust. Check the mounting brackets for the rear axle, everything else is the usual stuff.....
