I started work on the escort last monday, so a week has passed since I finally got my hands on a camera (luck had it I broke mine a day before taking the car apart : anyway, since last sunday, a few things have happened.. first off the interior is finished that took me up to monday, started on the engine bay wednesday, what started off as a bit of a prep through ended up as new strut tops, gusseting, new front panel, new wing rails etc. from: to: its in the bodyshop wednesday, before then, the list of things to do are: weld new strut top reinforcement plates (which havent turned up yet! bloody bank holiday weekends and the postal service ) oh, and cut new holes for the 110mm eccentric topmounts weld strut brace on (also, hasnt turned up yet, in the post) grind off the welds from the new o/s wing mounting rail seam seal various things give it a coat of high build primer (my bodyshop guy is going to do what I cant) oh, then theres the donor ;D ;D ;D once its back from paint, the engine is going in, plus a load of other gubbins, the bbs are getting tyres tomorow all ready for when its finished....then its tax and mot time before I put it back to the bodyshop for the rest of the car to be painted. ill be updating this in a slater/blownimp manner for the next 2-3 weeks, as thats the rough time scale for me to get it done ;D

i had a look earlier and it already has engine lifting points attached to the engine ;D make me wonder if ford designed them there because they think they will need to be taken in and out often

The interior looks great...modern, but not out of place - really impressive. Are you going for a 'cleaned' engine bay? Is there a modern plastic cover you can use?
Can't wait for more! ;D

using a powder coated blue zetec one I found lying about at work, not going mental with the detail, but it should be pretty tidy as theres no washer bottle and ive hidden the header tank, plus throttle bodies get rid of most of the gubbins. I'm not going to the extent of hiding all the cables and all that, its a daily driver at the end of the day. I'm keeping the colour a secret until its finished though the neighbours - meh ;D theyve learnt to live, ive had worse

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Looking ace. On another note how did you attach the interior? Drill/tap new holes in the metal of the car or use existing holes and persuade the existing runners to fit new seats?
