sounds like somone has cherry picked the best bits of the interior - for 2.8 ghia granada probably -
I noticed today, on my mk2 that when I had the rear door open to clean it - that the door card has faded to a sort of green - but brown where its hidden from the sun (under the edge of the rear seat) - but the other side is fine
keep hold of the steelies - they are quite rare now - as most have been round the oval - and are now oval ;D

Have about 20 14" steels in my back yard!!!!! 16" 24v Cos rims FTW - I know everyone has had them but there is a good reason for that - they look the tits!! Those 7 spokes you're getting will be 15". Clean motor tho mate. Just sold my 2.8 estate on Cos rims, missing it already.

the merc wheels will physically go on, but youll only get about 2 - 2 n ahalf turns on the nuts, it'd need longer studs to be honest... also your right about it driving differently... feel it through the steering wheel and kinda weird on corners too- hard to describe- juddery.. i had a set of 8 hole chromed 16's on a mk2 exec and that was a pig... drove beautifully when i swapped the wheels later on... had no idea until then just thought it was the car... ive got cossie rims on my mk2 now and they're fine. lot of the late 5 stud J stuff goes on, mitsi, toyota, audi etc... thatll get you thinking! p.s to put a 5 speed on the essex youll need a 2.5 bellhousing and a type 9 5 speed box and youll need to take 14mm off the input shaft

I have a problem. I planned to sell my MG Maestro once it was sorted, but now that its sorted I'm enjoying it too much and realy want too keep it. On the other hand I'm loving the granada and don't realy want too sell that either, but one of the HAS to go . So whats it to be, a 36,000 mile MG Maestro 2.0efi or a 51,000 mile Granada 2.3 manual. Ill get some pics of the MG on here later, ive tried transfering the pics of it that are already on this site but it doesnt seem to work. On a lighter note ive just got a set of alloys for the granada for FREE! And they look cool as you like, infact I'm going to be bold enough to give my own car an OOOOOOFFF!

And that my neighbours 3 series in the back ground. Its horrid. As you can see its BRIGHT yellow with blue bits. On many an occasion ive been tempted to scrawl LAGUNA down the side, mid 90's BTCC laguna stylee!. And the two VW campers belong to another neighbours. He seems to like anything he buyes, he currently has about 10 or so cars dotted about the estate.

Well, did i ever have a result on sunday! I went round to a mates house to help him strip a granada for bangers only to be told ''you take it off, you keep it''. Fortunatly that also included the other 4 sitting in his garden. They range from a LX to a giha x so mine should be nicely specked up soon. Hes also got a 5 speed box (ive been told its the strong one) that ive got for sweet F A! Theres afew solid panels there too, which is a wonder considering the state f the rest of the car lol.Its also well handy for me to look round these cars to see where all the hidden rust comes from, particulaly the bulk head. Unbelivibly theres one granny there that was left to sit and rot with only 21000 miles on it! The inside looks good but the outside is.......... still there........ just!

Loveley granny you have there, right colour too! I find most of the survivors are ghias and the lower specs get abused to death then raced. There was one identical to yours round the corner from my parents house, it had run into a lamp post but was still mint. I'm tried to save it but it got scrapped. Gutted

I agree - it's good to see a low spec one still running around, as nearly all have disappeared. I had a 82' 2.0L in the mid nineties - it was a tough old thing, I can understand why the banger boys rate them. Looks excellent in the red with those wheels - Sell the Maestro and keep Granny!

Mk2 granny is on my list of cars I really REALLY want one day, but will probably never have. Best to have a couple of working cars than lots of non working ones! Missed out on a pretty mint ghia estate a few years back that went for stupid money on Egay, £850 IIRC.
Looks like I missed the cheap MK2 boat, along with the Cortina boat, Capri boat e.t.c
Not sure if anyones mentioned this but watch where you park it!

Not sure if anyones mentioned this but watch where you park it! I know that only too well lol Ive been into classics all my life and into bangers for about 5 years and during that time ive got to know alot of the banger comunity (partly due to writing a small fanzine at one point, 'sixbolt') and whilst no one i know is into nicking cars, i know there are some out there that would happily have that away, so precautions have been, and are still being taken. Ive got more bits to get this weekend from cars that are being built for the fig8 at wimbo in a couple of weeks. Banger racing is the sole reason that i wanted this car in the first place, and its also the only way i could get soooo many parts. This is definatly a keeper, the maestro is on its way. My dads treating me as some sort of trator, weve both had BMC/BL cars for some years and now ive defected to the blue oval. Oops!

I'm not a big fan of the blue oval, infact id go as far to say as I don't like fords. The few ive had though have been crackers and a mk2 Granny is a car that nobody can fail to lust after.
I don't like fords but I want a granny, or a cortina or a capri...... Sounds like I do like Fords to me!

My experience of FWD fords has been rather naff to be honest, but so far my RWD ownership experiences have been spot on! And this is coming from someone who has always been BMC to the core, ive never liked fords, vauxhalls or nothing. Now i think i need to own a vauxhall of some sort at some point, RWD preferably, but theres no way in getting in no french rubbish (que me buying a 2cv and raving about it like its the best thing ever!)

ITS BEEN STOLEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sometime today. Some little pond scum nicked it from right outside my house. I'm not I'm the best of moods right now, ive had cars for some years and never had this happen before. Its not nice, and its not just for the fact that the cars gone, its just the whole 'somethings been stolen' thing.
