12v goes in easier as its smaller, there will be more pics shortly showing mods to the manifold to get it round the steering on mine, the 12v is fine on the type 9 gearbox as well which is easier to fit with no prop mods. a 2.8i cortina goes pretty well, ive had a couple myself.
to be honest its not the wiring thats the problem as the engine loom from the granny is seperate from the rest so you plug it all into the engine and ecu and then you just need a couple of earths a live and an ignition live and some power to the fuel pump, its mostly plug and play with no extra wires to conect up over a normal non ecu engine really, not that I'm an expert of course.

My Corty (Nina) was originally a 2.3... when it died I decided to drop a 2.8 carbed lump in (I don't like injection). It was a reasonably straight forward swap but as Nina has a custom built rad I had to keep the fan and water pump off her 2.3 engine Would just like to advise that the brakes will need upgrading with the Cossy lump - I have trouble stopping a carbed 2.8

In my experiance with Cortinas (over 30 off em at this point) the standard brakes will easily lock the front wheels anyway, so not much point adding more braking power, it just makes things worse, what i will do though is add vented discs and some air scoops as the standard brakes fade very quickly, one hard stop from 100mph will have em useless for a good few mins till they cool down again. Eventually the car will get a custom alloy crossmember and some decent front suspension similar to this, but still using the Cortina hubs along with a proper 5 linked rear end, so maybe then i can fit more powerfull brakes, i know what you mean though, my last 2.8i Cortina was a bit of a handfull especially if the roads were damp, they just don't have enough grip for spirited driving really.

had 15's on quite a few of mine, including my last 2.8i and i could still lock the wheels, its the camber change along with the rubber mounted front end i think, you can improve it with stiffer front springs and dampers, but then you suffer from a bad back and plenty of understeer. I wanna keep the 13's on this one as I'm never happy with the looks if i go bigger, so i'll just have to take it easy.

Looks better too!

Coming on well ;D, some right nice engeneering going on there I don't like lower stiffer springs personly (man boobs and a bad back) Thicker ARBs off a hyundai make a world of differance especialy on the rear, i did lower the front a bit on me Mk3 but that had pos camber to start with so lowering only made it better Capri weels deffo make em feel more "planted" on the road i have em on me Mk5 and they stop the P/S being overlight which i used to really hate on me 2.0 with P/S What you doing witrh the rear end of the Ex system?

The alloys on mine have plenty of offset so should help, cheers for anti rolll bar tip, in the past I have modded the bracket on the back and run two cortina ones together, I'm not a fan of super hard suspension either, rear springs are -1" and only slightly uprated, it has adjustable gas shocks all round so i'll be havin a fiddle with the settings to keep it nice and comfy as I have compressed discs and degenerating vetibria myself!! Gonna wait its rolling to see if it needs tougher springs on the front which I suspect it will, so it'll probably get jacked up at the front a bit as well, I want it useable, had seriously lowered cars before and they are just rubbish on the road usually. No power steering on this one which is gonna stop the girls driving it i reckon, managed ok in my non power steered XR4i so hopefully the cortina will be ok. exhaust runs into a standard 2.3 backbox as the 24v mpg goes really pants without enough back pressure and I'm happy to scarifice a few bhp so I can afford to run the thing, ive got 200 odd to play with so I'm not worried about it being slow!

Yeh i've heard they drink like a fish with too free a flowing system Double rear ARB sounds good, a few i know totaly restyle the rear one to mount on the body and actually do a proper job of stopping the roll really stops the understeer on the front without making them manboobs jiggle ;D Got 1 slipped and 1 impacted disc meself so i know where you coming from too many silly engine out jobs with no engine crain, standing on the inner wing and a seat belt was order of the day when i was young DOH
